The Common Tests are over! Now its back to the boring everyday school life where we learn about engaging things like how to calculate solubility of salts. Way to go.
But before we sink into the mud we call life, at least we had celebrated the end of the CTs.
Me, Yunxuan, Youbao, Yingyu and Weilin went to Marina Square to pig out at Pizza Hut. Then, we went to the rooftop of Esplanade to talk about, er, stuff. Really brainless stuff, like Mediacorp TV dramas (see, brainless) and people and stuff.
No, its nothing high or anything, it was just the CTs, not very remarkable in the whole scheme of life. But still, we did sort of celebrate. I wonder what the physics people did.
So anyway, do you want me to comment on the CTs? I believe you all know how horrifying it was that you do not need to go through it again, but due to a pretty sadistic nature, I shall take you on a walk down memory lane. Well, GP was a heroic attempt (haha. geddit?), but I'm pretty sure it's a goner. Then came H1 econs, which, I quote, "is more difficult than the H2 question". Then, it was the Lit paper, which was superbly horrible. Do you want to read and analyse the poem? Well, here it is:
"My Last Duchess"
That's my last Duchess painted on the wall,
Looking as if she were alive. I call
That piece a wonder, now: Fra Pandolf's hands
Worked busily a day, and there she stands.
Will't please you sit and look at her? I said
"Fra Pandolf" by design, for never read
Strangers like you that pictured countenance,
The depth and passion of its earnest glance,
But to myself they turned (since none puts by
The curtain I have drawn for you, but I)
And seemed as they would ask me, if they durst,
How such a glance came there; so, not the first
Are you to turn and ask thus. Sir, 'twas not
Her husband's presence only, called that spot
Of joy into the Duchess' cheek: perhaps
Fra Pandolf chanced to say "Her mantle laps
Over my lady's wrist too much," or "Paint
Must never hope to reproduce the faint
Half-flush that dies along her throat": such stuff
Was courtesy, she thought, and cause enough
For calling up that spot of joy. She had
A heart---how shall I say?---too soon made glad,
Too easily impressed; she liked whate'er
She looked on, and her looks went everywhere.
Sir, 'twas all one! My favour at her breast,
The dropping of the daylight in the West,
The bough of cherries some officious fool
Broke in the orchard for her, the white mule
She rode with round the terrace---all and each
Would draw from her alike the approving speech,
Or blush, at least. She thanked men,---good! but thanked
Somehow---I know not how---as if she ranked
My gift of a nine-hundred-years-old name
With anybody's gift. Who'd stoop to blame
This sort of trifling? Even had you skill
In speech---(which I have not)---to make your will
Quite clear to such an one, and say, "Just this
Or that in you disgusts me; here you miss,
Or there exceed the mark"---and if she let
Herself be lessoned so, nor plainly set
Her wits to yours, forsooth, and made excuse,
---E'en then would be some stooping; and I choose
Never to stoop. Oh sir, she smiled, no doubt,
Whene'er I passed her; but who passed without
Much the same smile? This grew; I gave commands;
Then all smiles stopped together. There she stands
As if alive. Will't please you rise? We'll meet
The company below, then. I repeat,
The Count your master's known munificence
Is ample warrant that no just pretence
Of mine for dowry will be disallowed;
Though his fair daughter's self, as I avowed
At starting, is my object. Nay, we'll go
Together down, sir. Notice Neptune, though,
Taming a sea-horse, thought a rarity,
Which Claus of Innsbruck cast in bronze for me!
That poem killed me. Try analysing it within 1 hour or so, and I tell you, your brain will sizzle and melt to slush. I thought the speaker was the father, but turns out he was this extremely jealous lover who killed that woman. According to sparknotes, that is. Oh well.
Okay, where was I. Oh, after Lit was Maths, and then Chem. Frankly, Chem was a killer.
I shall not linger to long on this extremely boring and depressing topic of the CTs.
Instead, I shall lament on the fact that we have not gone out together (as in, all together) for a long long time. Can we have an outing? I am afraid I will sink in the despair we call 'school', once we start lessons again.
Anyway, thanks Youbao for the Yunnan pics!! Jamie and Sokemay and Chip haven't sent theirs yet. So you cannot see the full glory of the chun1 zhang3, who has the sexiest hair (voted by FHM magazine), and the Man in SM's life (at least in Yunnan).
I am still reminiscing about the days in Yunnan. Those were the best days of the holidays. After that t was all downhill, yes, I went to Vietnam too, but I was diarrhea-ing and all that, then after Vietnam was the worst, the pre-common test days.. Brr.
So anyway, I have learnt during the June Holidays that mugging (i.e. studying for more than 3 hours straight) is extremely unhealthy and will lead to fatigue. I think I'm suffering from fatigue, because even as I type here, I feel my brain switching offffffffff................
Haha, no lar, not so exaggerated. I just cannot imagine what will happen during the pre-promo days. I get the shivers just thinking of it. I think I will go mad. You know, before the common tests, I thought to myself that maybe I should freak out during the CTs (like scream, cry, and pull my hair out in front of everyone) so that they will send me to IMH and I won't have to do the Cts anymore.
Haha.
But it's worth a shot. Then I was thinking what the teachers' reactions would be to that. But too bad, my mental state is not that bad.
Wow, this has been a severely long entry, sorry, too long never blog, it's like verbal (typal?) vomit. I am Vomiting Vivien, I must live up to my name.
I think I too long never blog hor, my tagboard also become stagnant le. So let's do the 10 minute mozzie wipeout!! Okay, not funny.
... I have nothing to talk about anymore. Okay, seeya!!!

This is a SUPER CUTE BOY!!! He digs dirt and screams and touches our hair. :)

It was damn fun okay, full of cute kids and all that.
Hai, then now must mug CTs and I'm going to Viet tomorrow! Wah lao. Shit, I can just die lor.
Too much happened in Yunnan to blog about lar, even though all were quite, er, nonsensical.
Guess what? I'm listening to the damn podcast now. Blah.
So anyway, Sokemay had many flings!! And we vomited (I) and laosaied alot. We also hoed(??) to ground. Hoeing(?) is fun!!
Er. Kind of.
So anyway, leaving at the village was really a kind of, er, simple life. Like you have no contact with tall buildings of any kind, there is virtually no shopping, and I like it. I mean, you just kind of forget these sort of thing existed, and you just try to entertain yourself in the most basic way ever, like getting songbird (PSM) to sing for you, or chasing after the cute kids (as in children, not goats), or just, er, chillin'.
We also went sightseeing at those touristy places abit, and went to those gargantuan Supermarkets. Walmart is good, Carrefour doesn't have Lays (c).
Too bad the CTs spoil everything leh. Damn school.
Sorry, I have no pics to liven things up, since my poor cam died, but don't worry, the rest have, and there are plenty of camwhorific pics!! And those uber (SM's new favourite word) cute children.
:( I don't want school to reopen lehhhhhhh.
Er, okay, more updates when school reopens. Seeya.

Oh well.
* * *
Haven't blogged in a while; I just can't be bothered to use the com.
I've been slacking for the past few days leh. And I have yet started any revision.
I plan to start after Yunnan. Won't die one lar.
So anyway, THIS HOLIDAY IS SO SO SO UNBEARABLY BORING!!!
I would have welcomed some other homework besides the GP one lor. At least do already can count as revision for Common Test mah. Now they come and don't give homework, then we must study on our own leh. SIAN.
By the way, GP sucks. To the core. I mean, 5 podcasts?? That is mad lar!!
Then the deadline is the day we return from Yunnan. Darn.
But I don't feel like doing leh. So Sian.

So, I just watched Pirates recently, and no, Leanne, the after credits thingy was not worth staying back for lar, don't waste your money.
But the movie was alright, even though the front part was quite O_O boring and it was irritating to have Choo Weilin sit beside you and laughing at all the not-supposed-to-be-funny stuff like the commander/soldierish guy walking slowly down the stairs and getting blasted. But never mind, it was fun.
And it is sickening to have the posters of Pirates all flashing the slogan "Welcome to Singapore" so proudly. Oh puh-lease, it was just something Chow (or, Sao Feng) said out of courtesy, like if you have just arrived in some shit-ass weird place full of steaming baths and boiling tubs (and big fat botak men) you would surely be freaked out, and the owner is just trying to be nice and intro the place to you what.
Sao Feng could have said "Welcome to Japan" for all the difference it would have made. Since there are all those spas and onsens in Japan and the fat guys could have been Sumo wrestlers. That would have made more sense and there would be no need for the hideous looking Madame Ching(?) with that thick layer of make-up, which would have melted from all those steam.
So anyway, point is, the slogan doesn't work.
But Pirates is still worth watching lar, since you HAVE to catch the whole trilogy if you had caught Curse of the Black Pearl and the second one, whats-its-called? oh, I just googled it, Dead Man's Chest.
So, go watch!! But remember, you don't have to stay back for the after-credits thing, it's not very cool or nice.
* * *
I'm going Yunnan soon.
That is, the day after tomorrow.
You have to miss me, readers of this blog!! LOL, especially Koh Yunxuan lor, and Choo Weilin, for their acts of pangsehing (being broke is not excuse hor). But never mind, we will have fun and not buy you all any souvenirs.
Er, kidding, but its not like we can get any souvenirs.
* * *
So anyway, it is impossible to listen to the podcast at home because the incessant noise from the radio that my mother listens too, with all the oldies and whatever blah OSIM thing the people are promoting. Which means I would be unable to concentrate and produce the stoopid journal entries ahpat wants.
Grr.
Stupid podcasts.
* * *
Okay, seeya, do tag while I'm in Yunnan, and if you all want to fetch us back from the airport (as if) you all must remember to say "Welcome to Singapore" when we get back okay?
