Love, Vivien
21:29
So, 2008, the last year of my MOE education, the end of my years as a uniform-wearing, rule-abiding, homework-copying student. So it's twelve long, hard (okay, not really) years, filled with laughter, tears, anger, embarrassment, rumours, gossips and countless occasions of ridiculous fun. I have made many good friends, many hi-bye/nod/smile acquaintances, some used-to-be-close-but-not-now friends (?), some awkward friends, and, well, just about any sort of friendship you can think of. And it's really difficult for this year to end like that, in the culmination of endings and a sense of finality, because I want to just hold on to all these, and never let go. But I guess a new year means embracing new beginnings, not living in memories, yeah?
But I still have to do that annual big thank you thing, because you people (regardless of whether you read this or not) mean so much to me. :D
Primary School: Er, I know it's weird to thanks such old fogies (yeah, whatever!), but those were my formative years (not really), and I did make good friends there, even though we can't be counted as best friends today.. But there's still many to thank!!! I met Qianbing and Krystal in Park View, cool right. And then there's Pammy, Sharon, Sze Pan, Daryl (who is not in Singapore, but is in England/America, I don't know which one, and probably won't remember his Pri School mates), Yewfong, CJJ, Peiyu, James, Siti, Elvina, but I'm really just rambling on and spewing out random names I can remember. And I can't really remember much, oops. But I'm sure it was fun and screwed up in a way, if not Qbing and I wouldn't have turned out like that. -_-
Sec 1/2: Er, 1Adrenaline Rush and 2Attitude. It was fun and screwed up too, and the people I've got to thank include, first and foremost, Judy, my oldest friend in Dunman High (not from PVPS), with all her quirks and AA-ness, who is always there for you (online). Aww. There was also Lihui, Mingyi, Weirui, Gabriel, Boonwei (Judy's best friend, haha), Kenji (with his 100 word niao3), Wuyue (supa-smart), Mabel, and, er, more random people! It made this class crazy, and even though Yingyu was in 2A too I never really knew her, because I was one of those loner-ish type who only hung out with a few people.
Sec3/4 Year5/6, because these were practically the same, haha. I am seriously tempted to just say "I love you guys, you know who you are :D", but I shall try to thank you all, at least by naming you all out, haha.
Yingyu, I can still remember her messaging me on Christmas 04 asking me if I wanted to sit with her, because 4H was sorta new and strange. The rest is history, I guess.
Yunxuan, who I still regard as THE gossip queen, haha. Although she has a habit of abusing people, she's still one of the funniest people I know. Slapstick, I think.
Youbao, the chair, the chair, the chair, the chair, haha. I shall remember her pia-ness, and her responsible role, haha. And she's almost always the first to answer messages and stuff, haha.
Xumei, who is counting down with her temple friends now! She's also one of the funniest people I know, don't know why, and we're blood buddies!
Wenqian, who left Singapore for Oz. Although I only knew her for a while (like, really, a while), she's like, really nice and sometimes lame like hell.
Soke May, who is everything a comic's made up of. She's quirky, she's woefully (actually, funnily) ignorant, she's always in one embarrassing situation or another.. :D
Leanne, the wushu warrior (-_-) and Wenqian's evil twin, and JayChou K-er, who is also boy crazy and muddle-headed, haha.
Jiamin, who despite being dao and scary is really quite funny and nice. I know, ironic!
Biwen, who sometimes can say something sarcastic when you least expect it, but is almost always nice and the most lady-like out of all of us.
Choir: Um, haha. But there were nice memories of being super sarcastic and niao regarding practices. There was Vicki, Baojia, whom I hang out with despite being ex-head of my most hated group of people, and sometimes (okay, always) shocks me and Choo with her lameness, Kangi, Mingshuan, and, er, more people (who have slipped my leaky mind).
Literature Class! Yes, I am that lame, but this class was one of the most fun and cosy (probably because of all the hardship we had been through, brought about by she-who-must-not-be-named). There's Linette, Krystal, Jiayin, who I've left out of the previous list so they can appear here, as a whole, haha. There's also Hexun, Qingzi, Liwen (the H1 peeps), Huishan, Yuezhi, Yingqing, Annabel--Uh, yeah, our Mdm Nora's class had 4 drama queens. Shiok!--, Yingxian, Aaron, Vina, Claire, and, uh, omg, there's one more, but I can't remember, please tag her name on my board.. D:
Slackers Club, Chip, Cecilia, Choo, Tienleng, I cannot elaborate, no time!!! But we rock lar, lol.
Ahh, it's almost time to post, and I keep feeling like I never thank everyone.
Hmm, thanks to my family, because they rock (well, they must rock, since I rock, sorry, bu yao lian).
And thank you to all my readers! I shall blog on the first, as a new beginning, and also reflect on 2008, because I have no time liao.
And about the colour of the fonts, I shall change them tomorrow, NO TIME LE!!! HAHA.
SO, THANK YOU EVERYONE, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
WOOHOO!
***Edit***
I kinda just made everything grey, to avoid torturing your eyes with mismatched colours. And, yeah, I'm in the lit class too! Whoops.
Ciao!

This year is a little different because I am currently looking for a job (but not too hard, because somehow I'm not that motivated), and also because the realisation that I wouldn't be going back to school (as a student) in 2 weeks or so just hit me rather hard. I'm even feeling a little weirded out that there isn't any homework for me to rush out last minute this December. I guess you never really appreciate those things until they are long over.
But who has the time/energy to be nostalgic when you have so much to do? I gave packing a shot yesterday, and the effort almost killed me. Well, it would have killed me, but I only packed the Year Six things. I cannot imagine turning out the cupboard(s) piled up with secondary school junk. In fact I am hyperventilating as I type (okay, not). Then have to pack my clothes cupboard, filled with the t-shirts I always wear (as in, really, always), school tees (a million and one of them), uniforms (and I, being a pack-rat, still keep my primary school uniform), moth-eaten old stuff which I never bothered to throw out/donate (moth-eaten being an inaccurate figure of speech), and clothes I would never wear (like skirts, and frilly shirts my mum forces me to wear for CNY). Then I still have bedside drawers to pack.
But I guess packing would keep my mind off things, and keep me busy. If not I would go hiding in the toilet and cry due to fretting too much about the future. Okay, no, I'm not a sissy, what I meant was: doing these mundane (but really quite fun in a masochistic way!) stuff would keep me busy and keep my mind off the emptiness of life now. How tragic, you see.
In fact, it is so tragic that I have compiled a list of "Excuses you could give yourself so that you could trick someone into going out":
1. Watch Red Cliff 2 because you have already watched the first one. Why waste a good (relatively) show? And with this excuse, invite fellow E-lit people who did watch the first movie.
2. Go donate blood. Help people! Take your mind of your pitiful existence! I admit, life's not that bad, but boredom is crippling sometimes. Thus, invite fellow blood-donors* to give blood!
*This excludes anaemic people like Koh and sticks like Chip
3. Go for a 2A class reunion! Of course, this may be a little awkward since I didn't really hang with most of the class, so it could be a small-ish reunion, like me, Judy, and her best friend (haha) Boon Wei. And of course, our all time best friend in 2A, Kenji! Ok, I'm kidding about that.
4. Meet to discuss about finding a part-time job! (And most likely just meet and talk-cock)
Anyway, that's what I'm doing tomorrow with Qbing and Choo, which is, in my opinion, a thinly veiled excuse to get out of the house.
5. Do some Christmas shopping!
6. Countdown. Only once a year! You really have to take this chance to get out of your house.
7. Meet a few friends for a heart-to-heart talk. This sort of thing is always nice/cathartic/awkward/funny. Of course, you would need to find a few close friends who don't mind disclosing their deep dark secrets ("I work for the CIA!" (yeah right), "I am a closet cross-dresser!", or, "I am secretly addicted to Mediacorp dramas!" (ew), or "I have a crush on Mr Sng.." (no secret there, though), or "Ten boys liked me when I was in Primary school! (courtesy of Soke, haha). But of course, I want those, ahem, really juicy secrets. Woohoo.)
8. Go jogging. Yes, I am that desperate.
9. Come February, we can go on a lonely singles dinner on Valentine's day, and exchange presents. If not we wouldn't receive any V-day presents in 2009, because school's officially out. T_T Um, unless you have a boyfriend/girlfriend to go out with. Traitor! (Haha)
10. Meet fellow friends to brainstorm on this list.
Yeah, that's about it. If you want to make a reservations on any of these, er, fun-filled activities, please leave me a tag on the left. :D
Sigh.
Now there's nothing on TV. Nothing! (Unless you like dreary Japanese period movies, or Criss Angel's Mindfreak -_-) And even the Internet is becoming a little boring.
I can't keep blogging because I would soon be wallowing in self-pity again. Boohoo.
*
I keep looking at the horoscopes nowadays. Maybe I'm leaning on psychological mish-mash to fulfil my life, haha. And the predictions are not even right. Pah. And since I have finished reading HP again, I am once again bored. Maybe I should try LOTR again, since I haven't finished The Two Towers. Or I could buy Tales of Beedle the Bard.
I want to take lessons. Guitar/magic/driving (not really)/Pilate's (haha)/anything. Because it's pointless to loathe around all day, taking up space. Sleight of hand is really cool. Um, I'm watching Criss Angel Mindfreak. O_O
I hate the song Too little to late, for some reason beyond my understanding. When I was at TM walking around, this shop was playing the techno version of that song. I almost died of the agony. I mean, if a song's already bad, turning it into techno just completely kills it.
But enough about techno. I'm off! Hasta la vista (whatever it means), baby.
Thursday, December 18 23:46
And I have a primary school reunion (but not quite) thing tomorrow, which frankly is quite weird, because I don't know if I can sustain a long conversation since we really don't have much in common. Which is really depressing, really.
But I want to meet up with sec 2 people, just for the heck of it. I just had a long-ish msn convo with Judy about the heydays (ugh, not really) in Secondary 1/2.
Well, another day then! I think I have stuff to blog about. I hope. But since I'm so good at ad-libbing (not really) I should be able to crap an entry out. :D
Well, gotta go. To finish up DH. CIAO!
p.s. Entertainment Today sucks. Like, I SO TOTALLY care about what Britney wears (although I do think she's really cool, saving (?) her career like that), or what weird scientology habits Tom swears by. These information would save the world someday, yes.
p.s.s But actually I think I'm just bitter because at least the people reported in ET have something to do. I am desperate! Well, desperate enough to contemplate packing my A level rubble/debris, which bizzarely enough seems to be occupying much more space than I do (it takes up half the sofa, the entire piano top, and the area around my bed). Sigh.
p.s.s.s (?) I am feeling more and more restless everyday. HELP!
Friday, December 12 00:19
I'm going to post the pics now, I guess. Bleh. It's 12:21! And I'm going on a cruise today/tomorrow/bah, time!, again, yes, because my parents are crazy, haha.
Nah, it's nice, I guess. And I'm re-reading HP. What am I doing with my life?
I wanted to do the mandatory year end post, but I shall put it off until it really is the year end. Right now, I'm slacking December away, looking for a job and stuff. I can't believe I'm not approved by MOE. Pfft, who needs them? And the weird thing is, they can blacklist me now, but I'm not under their control anymore, muahaha.
Actually, I still am, under the Singapore government, that is. Um, oh well.
Anyway, have fun over the weekends without me, as difficult as it would be! Sorry people, for procrastinating and withholding the Guitar Hero: World Tour/Wii day. Been a little busy/forgetful/slack. Well, a little of each. But I swear, I will invite you over!
Yep, tata! (On a totally irrelevant/irreverent side note, I really don't like Enya songs, because they are too ethereal. Her Christmas songs are really freaky)
But I digress, CIAO!
Monday, December 8 00:34
I have no life! Er, no homework, no plans, no money (ugh), no job.
Oh, and my left eye keeps jumping. My sister says it's someone badmouthing me, and being not-so-superstitious, I think it's due to sleeping at 3 a.m. last night watching Norbit (in a half lucid state; I don't know what happened to him in the end).
I want to talk to someone! Confess! Tell the person every single thing I ever wanted/dreamt of/thought of! It's cathartic, I think. But right now no one online will talk to me (and it's a little crazy to request a therapy session with someone online), I don't have any online supa-crazy-long-convo friends anymore (lost'em/grew apart/offline).
I am a sad, sad girl.
Here's what I need:
1. A therapist, or
2. A supa-crazy-long-convo friend to come online
3. Closure (?) from the six years, like catch up/make up/confess/bludgeon (haha)
4. A job
5. ?
Going cuckoo by the minute/second.
Here's a haiku I wrote, while watching this ridiculously bad show about some weird advertising agency/wedding planner (?) on Channel 5.
Now what?
The cat has finished
his fish; his bowl is empty.
You would think, "Now what?"
and another one,
Post
Post graduation;
post fun, post life, post meaning.
Freaking' need a job
And lastly,
Yeah, yeah
These Haikus do suck,
One-twenty in the morning,
Of course my brain's dead!
You see, I really do need a life.
Oh, the joy.
Sunday, December 7 23:26

Six years and our only picture with Mr. Kiw! I have to admit, this is beyond cool. I hope we can live up to his expectations, though.
And one with Mr. Sng! Our cool inspiring, er, young, principal.
I hate posting pics on blogger because it always messes up the post format. And anyway, I really don't have that many prom pictures to post, and some are to dark/too unglam. And I am feeling sleepy now. So you'll have to wait, dudettes!
Now I'm watching this mean Brit host on this weird American show, which insults/electric shocks/embarrasses people. Not my kinda show, not very interesting--exactly my predicament in life now.
Oh no. Seems like I really need therapy/shock therapy/something to konk my head.
But until then, CIAO!
Friday, December 5 10:03
Now that prom is officially over, I really don't have much to do, besides watching TV, playing DS/Wii games, endeavour (or at least, dream of) packing all the stuff from A levels, sleeping and mooching around. Seems to me that life has kinda lost its purpose. Sobxx.
So anyway, I am far to lazy to even think about loading the prom pics onto facebook. So they're sitting in my computer all lonely and hidden from the world. Maybe later.
About prom, I guess it wasn't what I always imagined it to be. You know how those Chick lits always proclaim prom to be the night when all your wishes come true, when you resolve quarrels with your ex-best friend, when you stand up to the queen bitch in your school, when you suddenly realise your best friend is who you've been in love with all your life (of course, only if your best friend is a guy, unless the book was about lesbian rights), when your crush asks you out, when your friends find instant happiness, when world peace occurs. I know how trashy and unbelievable these plots are, but really, I thought prom would be something more than a few picture (okay, tons of pictures, not the point), gooey food (the dessert was good though), trips to the toilet (ooh, alliteration, and those trips were kinda the mini highlights of the evening), trips to the shopping centre (yeah, Jiamin, Leanne, Linette and I kinda left in the middle to see some cute bear Christmas decorations) and blah entertainment (so the emcees were engaging and the things they did onstage were generally amusing, but seriously, you try looking at those from behind a thick pillar. It could make even a performance by Jay Chou/Duffy/The Ting Tings (take your pick, I'm outta ideas) blah).
But anyway it was my first (and probably last?) prom, and although it wasn't what I though it would be, I guess it was alright in the end. Because really, I don't really need the prom to conclude all the wonderful memories and friends from the six years in Dunman High.
*
So we have officially graduated; we are no longer part of the cohort of students, we no longer have to wear uniforms, no longer have to wake up at 5.30 a.m., dreading the day's tests/uncompleted homework/lessons. No more can we sit around the hexagonal tables, asking Chem/complex no.s questions, complaining about GP/teachers, gossiping about random stuff, planning outings, laughing until we're out of breath (laughing about brainless stuff, usually).
I'm actually a person easily trapped in all the nostalgia and stuff, if you give me a reason to I can and probably will spend more time than necessary reminiscing about the past, and will probably become slightly emo because of that. To prevent that from happening, I shall do the reminiscing in some other post.
Anyway, I'm going on some cruise (to nowhere, kinda like my life now, since there's nothing to do) today, which means my birthday would be spent in the middle of the open sea, drifting somewhere. :(
But the good new is I'm turning eighteen! Which means next time we can spend our nights in some meaningless club doing weird stuff (I don't know, what do you do in clubs?) until 3 a.m. or something. Um, doesn't sound that appealing. Haha.
Anyway, I WANT A CHALET!!! Or a sleepover or something, I NEED to get out of my house, I'm going made, cooped up, all alone (my sister prefers interacting with the computer, like what I'm doing now, except hers is Maplestory, and sometimes she doesn't bother to bathe until 7 p.m.). I'm going insane.
And when we sleepover/chalet/camp out at Pulau Ubin (nah, kidding) we can play stupid games like monopoly, Mahjong, Indian poker, or truth or dare (but only until we're good and drunk, so no one would be too shy, haha. You have to make Soke May drunk, because she would never agree to play t/d when sober).
But I'm just daydreaming because up till now I have no freaking plans! OMG, I am so sick of languishing at home.
*
Anyway, for prom pics and stuff, you will have to wait until I come back on Monday, because right now I think my sister is suffering from Internet withdrawal symptoms (kidding). I need to pack the stuff for the cruise.
Love ya, Vivien (who is still seventeen, but by the next post, she would be eighteen).
Tuesday, December 2 20:58
Just don't get any pre-prom nightmares, I drew those to show you the gross disparity between guys and girls.

Fig. 1
Male with make-up. Okay, so it is disgusting, sorry, I cannot draw on paint to save my life. But you get my point.
Actually, I don't get my point either, don't worry if you are at a loss. I think I'm just bored. Or maybe it's a case of pre-prom jitters, a term coined by Xumei. -_-

Fig. 2
See how different your reactions are! (I'm just being obnoxious, sorry) It is the social construct that we shudder at guys with make-up but remain calm when we see a female with make-up.
Although I'm sure you did shudder when you saw this hideously drawn picture. Haha.
* * *
Here's a little digression.
* * *
Invisible Women's Weekly
(A subsidiary of Invisible Tabloids)
Miss ______ brings you the latest tips on make-up
Ahoy there mate-ys! Last week, Miss ______ tread where no invisible females dared to. Yes, brave moi went for a make-up course ($10!) to understand what makes the female mind tick. And the rumour is true, women are obsessed with make-up.
Surrounded by girls/women (whatever!) peering into their giganto mirrors, I navigated my way through the session (okay, so I did peer into the mirror too, psh, critics!) taking notes (LOL) and experimenting on my face. Of course, lousy me put on too much foundation, or rather, two-way cake, for whatever unfathomable reason it is called that, and blush.
But this isn't what I'm reporting, dears, no one wants to know how I suck at putting on make-up. Anyway, today's style tips: removing mascara.
Well firstly, if you google that, you would get pages telling you to use baby shampoo (-_-) and soft tissues. Well, I don't exactly buy that, because seriously, mascara is HELL. Here are some fail-proof mascara removal techniques which may seem unorthodox. Well, they are unorthodox.
1. Snip off your lashes.
This is the single easiest way to remover this clingy piece of make-up. And it's probably the only effective way, because after trying for 15 minutes, I really couldn't get all of the muck off. I believe mascara is something which will stay with you for the rest of your life, once you put some on.
2. Use your fingers to rub the gunk off your eyelashes
Which is a method strongly discouraged by the make-up pros, because you'll end up eradicating your lashes. But trust me, when you actually get to rubbing those lashes and you see the little black-ish lumps coming off them, you'll get a natural high. Okay, you won't, but it's way better than those "use our cleanser and gently wipe" methods. Because honestly, those don't work.
3. Don't put on mascara at all
It would save you the time/trouble/anger. Seriously. Don't. Put. Mascara. On.
And there they are, top three tips from make-up guru (if guru means hopeless person) Miss ______. And remember, when you read books saying how a person cried until her mascara ran, don't believe the book, because you nose may run, your lashes may sprint away, but your mascara ain't gonna be going anywhere soon.
Ciao, babes!
Invisible Tabloids and Invisible Women's Weekly are not liable for any facial mutations and/or bodily harm brought about by the following of the advice printed.
* * *
That wasn't a stunning piece of investigative journalism. But seriously, mascara is ________.
Er, there is another way of removing it, which is using cleanser-dabbed cotton buds (those stick-like things?) and slowly (painstakingly) wiping the stuff of your lashes. Horrible.
* * *
Well, tomorrow's graduation. I don't know what to say. But I guess I'll dedicate a post to the peeps I love, as the usual end-of-year post. Except this is the end of my school life, and I really don't know how to express what I feel (because I don't know what I feel and I don't know what to feel..). I really don't want to lose contact with anyone in the future, because I've heard enough horror stories to know how adults backstab each other and climb ladders. And even if right now I think these are all gross and pointless, who knows what a few years of the real world would do to me? Maybe you would hate me. Please don't. T_T
Er, but enough of that shit (zu).
We'll see what happens lar. :D
I'm outta words, and thus, I'm outta here! Good night! And despite all the complaints I had about prom earlier, seeya at prom! I can't wait to see what everyone's wearing. And dammit, my dress is one size or so too big. As in, the front part. Oh well.
Buhbye!
