You know how the job of being a teacher is always being glamourised? Teaching is seen to be a noble job, because teachers apparently shape the country's future leaders. But in truth, teachers aren't that perfect. I mean, how many of you actually feel inspired by a teacher or by his or her actions? It probably happens once or twice in your lifetime, or maybe none.

Get real. Here's what some slogans should say, if realism still counts in advertising.

Respire. Be a Teacher.

Because teachers are obviously humans, with human desires and needs to satisfy. Obviously, there are teachers who like the money involved, and with a little tweaking and pushing and sucking up, incompetent teachers can make it to the top of some lame commitee, gaining brownie points and higher pay. Then there are those teachers who find incentive in teaching because they get to see and flirt with sweet, young things. Which is sick.

Conspire. Be a Teacher.

Obviously there is a nationwide conspiracy to undermine the efforts and pull down the confidence level of academically-poorer students. From nasty principals telling N-level students to quit to nasty elitist teachers inculcating elitest mindsets into school students, we infer that the conspiracy is to get rid of lousy students so that the nation will progress without us hindering the development. I think there's something in the food and water supply too.

Perspire. Be a Teacher.

Well, for PE teachers and teachers who sweat excessively. No names of course, because it is not their fault to be naturally cursed with over-active sweat glands.

Retire. Be a Teacher.

This is for the teachers who find themselves and their ideals lost and thrown away into the bygone era. For the teachers who have spent their whole life teaching students and moulding the school such that they have a tradition of being neat and respectful, but are suddenly challenged by change and revolution and absurd ideas which threaten to downplay and undermine all their values.

Okay, sorry, I need to spice up my mundane life by blogging about mundane things.

Wow, I just realised almost all of my previous posts had been about the SCs. I have got to get a life.

18:29

It's Friday again! I almost went to cut my hair. Should I cut my hair?

Okay, okay, that wasn't particularly intellectual or anything.

The SC election results are out! I don't really care, actually, since it's just another popularity contest. And it's not like any of the candidates have anything which differentiates them from one another, since their ideas are practically the same--help clear the canteen (easier said than done), open the library earlier, introduce new food--only the really bad ones stand out, like how some actually try to bribe us by promising us awesome prospects in our school life, like fitting our uniforms with drawstrings (simply ingenious), or having even more events which will help us, er, bond.

So eventually, the really bad ones get filtered out, leaving us with the mediocre people. I know, I am so biased, and those people may all be nice, kind, smart, caring people, but hey, they are in the SC, meaning they have taken a path which makes it such that I can never view them as individuals anymore, but as a nasty, corrupted, useless entity.

'A good government must have the courage to make unpopular decisions' Discuss.

Sorry, but to this, I must add 'A lousy government makes relatively popular decisions which have no meaningful purposes whatsoever except to make them seem as though they are doing something'.

I am sick of government, since I haven't done the journal. I feel so slack and irresponsible. I must set my priorities straight! Yeah right.

I have to go make another E Z link card, as I had stupidly LOST MY WALLET. ZZZ. And no, I am not as lucky as lucky Chip, who had a nice ? mama sending her back her wallet. I curse the person who found and took my wallet to have permanently bad hair! Muahaha.

Oh well. I have nothing to blog about actually, except that I am stuck in helping out for the Mr and Miss Teen thing (administrative) again. Typing and all those. Grr.

* * *

I am happy. Because.

So anyway, today was quite funny, because small cute girl Koh Yunxuan is on the wanted list now. Haha. Why can't life be like that, full of little pleasures that make your day?

Sunday, January 20 22:19

Sometimes I have no idea what I'm going to do with my life. Maybe one day I'll wake up with amnesia, then I can start anew. Or maybe one day a rod will be stuck through my head, giving me a whole new personality, which would mean that I would be hardworking, smart, motivated, nice, kind and, well, great. Then I would go on to discover a new element which can react with the ozone layer and get rid of all the CFCl3 particles in the atmosphere.

Right now I feel like a resource wasting organism. Which is not a very nice feeling.

What can I be next time? All the noble jobs are lost to me, since I'm not the doctor material, and doctors are so overrated. I cannot be an engineer, since I don't take physics. I suck at maths, I don't like economics, and what can I do if I take literature? I am not brilliant in exams, and that is almost equal to being stupid in this exam-oriented place.

What if it's true, that only the elite will truly succeed?

Sometimes, ignorance is bliss. Ignorance of your ignorance is even better, because you transcend all the boundaries people set up to separate you from the others. Okay, I don't even know what that means.

We are getting more elitist, though. Because even the Secondary Ones have aptitude tests which will sieve out the best from the others, and categorise them into 'Best' and 'the rest'. Shouldn't Sec 1 kids have a chance to feel what it is like to be in a category-free school? It is bad enough that in the later part in life, chances will only be given to the elites; must the poor 13 year old kids be put through that too?

That is simply too depressing. Let us all sing a happy song!

There comes a time when we need a certain call
When the world must come together as one
There are people dying
Oh, and it's time to lend a hand to life
The greatest gift of all

We can't go on pretending day by day
That someone, somehow will soon make a change
We're all a part of God's great big family
And the truth - you know love is all we need

( CHORUS )

We are the world, we are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day so let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me

Well, send'em your heart
So they know that someone cares
And their lives will be stronger and free
As God has shown us
By turning stone to bread
And so we all must lend a helping hand

( REPEAT CHORUS )

When you're down and out
There seems no hope at all
But if you just believe
There's no way we can fall
Well, well, well, let's realize
That one change can only come
When we stand together as one

( REPEAT CHORUS AND FADE )

Okay, but since I'm not a Christian, and because the song is sang by Michael Jackson, we shall sing another happy song!

On top of Spaghetti

On top Of spaghetti
All covered with cheese
I lost my poor meatball
When somebody sneezed

It rolled off the table
And on to the floor
And then my poor meatball
Rolled out of the door

It rolled in the garden
And under a bush
And then my poor meatball
Was nothing but mush

The mush was as tasty
As tasty could be
And early next summer
It grew into a tree

The tree was all covered
With beautiful moss
It grew lovely meatballs
And tomato sauce

So if you eat spaghetti
All covered with cheese
Hold on to your meatball
And don't ever sneeze

ZZZ. Okay.

Have fun.

Oh no, I think I'm going to be behind times for homework again, like last year. And yet I am still wasting time online. But since I'm already here, what the heck.

So, it's time for the SC elections. Actually I cannot be bothered, and I don't see what all the hype is about anyway. You know how the SC always try to validate their existence by showing us how they are changing the school and the way things work? I really don't see how introducing McDonald's to the school is actually taking care of the "students' welfare" (no offence to the student welfare head; this attack is not personal, I just happen to hate SC, like, the organisation), since this opinion is based on the assumption that all students will be willing and able to afford to eat McDonald's, and also that "students' welfare" does not include our health.

It's not that I hate fast food or anything, it's just that sometimes the changes the SC introduces are made just to show that they are doing something. Those changes are not needed, they are not even sorely wanted or anything.

Okay, okay, I am being unfair, because even the redundant changes required lots of work and planning and slogging, but, instead of channeling their energy into doing certain unneeded things, the SC can focus on real issues (okay, relatively real), like how people are starting to dislike the SC (er, maybe it's just me), or how it is sometimes blatantly obvious that the juniors are not abiding to the "Code of Conduct", and some of the SC are not very, er, conducted too.

I mean, as leaders of our very prestigious school, shouldn't they, with their superior morals, adhere strictly to the moral-based "Code of Conduct"?

Oh, and seriously, you all should stop wasting paper, think of the environment, man.

* * *

That was surprisingly boring.

My point is, the way we select the Student Council is not considered democratic. It's not like anyone can just go campaign and expect to be voted fairly, because isn't this whole SC hoopla just another popularity contest? If the most unpopular student campaigned and came up with many good, plausible ideas (not likely, though. This is all hypothetical.), chances are that he still wouldn't get into the council. That is why only the popular people campaign, because they know their friends will vote for them, and who gives a shit whether they actually have good proposals/themes/whatever?

So we are like a popularity-based totalitarian state living under the illusion that we have a democratic party heading us. And you know what is the worst thing? The worst thing is that we can never have an upheaval and overthrow our oppressors, because this is a school, and the teachers will find us ridiculous.

So let's immerse in this sad state of affairs, and mind our own businesses, because we will be free in a year's time anyway.

I vote the yellow fellows, because they are the most ridiculous and seem most likely to not care about anything. Which means we don't have to act high and participate in those hare-brained schemes.

Sorry, this is one boring post. I shall go try my luck at the Econs homework, because of my currently bored state of mind.

If I were a dictator, I would order all the males in the world to wear frilly pink tutus and get all females to dominate over them. Then, I would slack at home playing video games. The next day, I would quit being a totalitarian dictator, because it really is a lonely position to be in.

Oh, you know the GP essay? If I chose the "Eat, drink and be merry" question, and if I agreed that it is the best advice, here is what I would have written (if I also happen to be crazy, or extremely cool):
"I completely agree to living life by this statement, so I can't
be bothered to write more and prolong my misery."
Then I would walk out of class.

I just ate a flaky apple. Eww.

Anyway, I just printed out my timetable. I only end at 1.45 pm on ONE DAY! >.< Boohoo.
My favourite day has got to be Day7, which is tomorrow. I only have Chem lec, Literature (o course, you know which teacher's.) and H1! Which is to say tomorrow is an utter waste of good time, because if I did not have breaks or anything, I will end school at 11.15am. Oh well.

I have to go and do homework le. GAH.

Strive onward! It's only 10 more months to our escape from hell!
