I think we are too frivolous for today's world. But I guess it's okay to engage in youthful frivolity.

Child/tween stars with clean images are too perfect for today's world.

Okay, another frivolous post. D:
I AM STILL A PARTY-PLANNER!

Hello people.

There is something wrong with my tagboard, because I cannot tag on it! Which is weird, because all of you can, as can be deduced from the flooding of the tagboard by Krissypoo.

So anyway, I ALSO WANT TO GO THE SOUP SPOON! I like soup.

You know, if everyone agrees, I can actually try to make a reservation. For 13 or so. But we still haven't decided on a date.

Here are some choices:

Labour Day lunch, 11.30? T_T
Labour Day dinner, 7.00? (Which I don't think is possible)
Friday Dinner, after school? (I like this!)
Saturday lunch, 11.30, 12.00, 12.30?
Saturday Dinner, 6.00?
Sunday lunch, 11.30, 12.00, 12.30?
Sunday Dinner, 5.30? (which is sad, because the next day is Monday)

So anyway, thesoupspoon.com says:

But since it isn't confirmed...

Guitar Concert

I have nothing much to comment about the concert, really. But hanging out with fellow ticket-tearers and ushers was quite fun. :D

So many teachers went. I bet they wouldn't give a hoot about the choir concert. Not that I would, actually.

I think my hair is melting in this heat. The clock thermometer reads 32 degrees celsius. If six degrees could change the world, I reckon we should start doing more worthwhile stuff now.

Yunxuan and Biwen's long overdue birthday celebration.

It's either on Speech Day or Labour Day, tentatively dinner.

Here's a list of supposedly cheap ($5 to $15) and good restaurants:

1. The Soup Spoon, http://www.thesoupspoon.com/default.asp

Supposedly the soup is the meal, and
"Anyone with a lust for soup and a passion for sublime flavours will find
themselves in soup nirvana at The Soup Spoon."
Sounds like some psuedo-new age thing. Cool. It's located at Raffles City and Bugis Junction, among other convenient places. :D

2. Men-Tei Ramen, http://www.men-tei.com/index.html

Ramen, looks nice, but they don't display the food prices, which usually does not bode well. But according to HungryGoWhere.com, it's cheap ($5-$15) and good. :D

Except it's located at 61, Robinson Road, Robinson Center, #01-01, Singapore 068893, which is in the middle of I-dunno-where.

3. Beppu Menkan Japanese Noodle Restaurant

It's at Suntec, but the prices seem to be nearer to $15. Oh well.

4. Just Noodles, http://www.hungrygowhere.com/singapore/just_noodles/

It's at 3 Temasek Boulevard #B1-057 Suntec City Mall, and it's Asian. Seems cheap too. And cheap is good. :D

Well. I should be doing my econs now. Seeya.

According to Wikipedia, Adam Smith was born in the 1700s! And he already introduced the concept of free trade and capitalism.

Sorry, I'm blogging about trivial things again. :)

Fourth post, because I putting off journal research.

I once said to Chip that the people who did not score well (like me) were just plain lazy; if we all actually worked hared we could and would actually do well.

Well, that was harsh, insensitive, and probably not true. Just because I'm lazy doesn't mean everyone is. And there are people who work very hard but just don't do well, maybe due to some unforseen circumstances or one thing or another.

There is stil time! We shall all work hard (eww) together!

Hey, bloggers can now blog in their native Indic script! How cool is that.

20:04

I've been bloghopping (instead of doing my journals, or my essays, or my case study, or my essay plans...) and whoa I think everyone who got a B and had a blog blogged about getting a B. Talk about conditional probability.

To the B people (and that includes me), well, firstly, life goes on. I think 10 years down the road you wouldn't even care about PW, or your bloody irritating ST who has bad hair, because PW is nothing. I do feel lousy for getting a B, because it makes me (made me) feel as though I were somewhat deficient, but I guess personal worth isn't measured by your grades (at least I think so), because if that were so I think I would have died of utter worthlessness now.

Would you want to be a straight-A student whom people view in a negative light, or a mediocre nobody who has friends and no enemies (at least I think no one hates me..)? Do you want to spend your life seeking perfection and a brighter future and climb corporate ladders and backstab, get backstabbed, bootlick, get backstabbed and (yeah, you know how this goes, it's like the boardgame the Navy gave us, never-ending)..?

I don't.

I know this society can be elitist, it can be biased, it can be so bloody irritating you want to stab someone in the heart (probably someone with bad hair and attitude), but in the end, you only need to answer to yourself. Sometimes you may be beaten by the elitists, the perfectionists, the A-nal people of the world, but you know your friends will not hate you if you don't have a mickey mouse file, or if you fail that test in Week 7.

If you look at the stars at night, you will see how the sky is really so large and all-encompassing and you are merely a speck of dust in the cosmos; your life is really an ant's life. Although I'm not advocating for students to completely give up and lay around staring at the night sky for the rest of their lives (our lives), I think we shouldn't be so caught up in this rat race we call life (rat race, another board game!).

We should really focus on what we think is right, what we want, and not spend life chasing after someone else's dream, trying to win this person and get her cartoon file when what you want isn't actually the cartoon file.

Okay, I think my analogies are getting worse in each paragraph. But my point is, whatever happens, a B is a B, languishing over a B and whooping over a B, the B will still be a B. No, no, I will not add in something lame, like To B or not to B, no. I mean, there are worst things than getting a B, and that is, getting a hairstyle like mine. I mean, seriously, the trauma makes the B look like a walk in the park, or as easy as pie. Although I don't know why a pie is easy. Nor do I know why a piece of cake is easy. I mean, even eating pie or cake is not easy--especially if you are calorie counting, or have lousy mouth-hand-eye coordination. Baking a pie or a cake is even more troublesome.

Sometimes these phrases don't make a lot of sense to me.

So anyway, CHEER UP, beople! Or, if you are one of those beople who are not sad, good for you!

Okay, that was a Bunch of Baloney. We must Believe! We must Be the Best! Sorry.

16:09

So we got back our PW results. Well, in retrospect, seeing how much I complained about PW last year, I'm surprised that the PW god did not give me a U or something.

Beautiful B. Well, goes to show the gods are deaf, at least the PW gods are.

And since they are deaf, GOOD RIDDANCE PW! BANE OF ANY JC STUDENT'S EXISTENCE, YOU ARE A GOOD-FOR-NOTHING, TOTALLY STUPID SUBJECT! YOU BESTOW TO US STs WITH BAD HAIR AND A WORSE BEHAVIOUR.

Okay, I have achieved mental catharsis.

Well, not really, since I don't have Choo or Cecilia's skills.

But anyway, on to the topic of bad hair.

BAD HAIR STRIKES BACK!

Miss _________ reports-

Bad hair seems rampant nowadays. After Pat's disastrous rebonding job comes another earthshattering hair disaster. We at IT report.

Sporting a new China doll hairdo, previous trendsetter Miss Choo XX (as seen in the first issue of IT) has once again managed to pull off yet another potentially apocalyptic hairdo with her unique sense of style. IT reporters did not manage to get any comments from Miss Choo on her new hairdo.

We have however managed to dig up the juicy fact that Miss Choo had visited Vernica Hair Salon (or something) on the evening of 11 April 2008, Friday with two other previously unidentified friends.

IT confirms that the two are none other two members of the Bad Hair Trio, who appeared in our previous hair-raising issue, "Haircut Horror"--Miss Heng and Miss Phua.

Although Miss Phua no longer sports a chic cleopatra hairdo, Miss Heng sure knows how fashion goes in a cycle--she is once again seen with a Ken Chu hairstyle, which never seems to go out of style, with $5 student hairstylists, that is.

On her new hairdo, Miss Heng remarks, "I think I am very brave. It is a personal statement against the societal norms of 'image is everything'." Right, Miss Heng. Or was it just an imprudent choice of going to yet another cheapo hairdresser? Because Ken Chu is SO not the "statement".

Miss Phua, however, was not as candid as Miss Heng, and was visibly distraught, repeating "Shit lar, now I look like Soke May! I don't want to look like Soke May!". We are, however, unable to reach Miss Phua in time for comments on her new hairdo personally. We can infer (being a tabloid newspaper), however, that Miss Phua dislike her new hairdo, because this "Soke May" here refers obviously to Miss "Fashion-faux-pas" Pung, who revels in all things out of date or just suspiciously wrong.

It seems that the phrase "once bitten twice shy" does not apply to students nowadays, who seem to think people deserve second chances. Well. IT hope this proves them wrong, because investigating on hair should not be the main priority of a tabloid newspaper! We want the juicy gossips, the break-ups, the scandalously bad teachers (although Judy, the political-analyser-to-be seems to be having a fun time posting ellen d diatribes, so we shall not bother about that for now). Here's in hope of hotter news, Miss _________, signing off.

Well, PW may suck, but nothing, I repeat, NOTHING can suck worse than our hair.
