A Heart So White

Greetings, people of the Earth!

The A levels are OFFICIAL FREAKIN' OVER! Uh, okay, I know I am a little late. And I'm not really that happy, I just feel a little empty.

Everything we have been working for is over! Our lives are so empty. Not (I think).

I was reading the papers, and Mr. Sng was on it. It was an article on the new campus (I know, slow news day, right?). I am supposed to be jealous, I guess. But really, I'm just mildly envious of those brats. Brats, I tell you.

Er, anyway, I can't believe the PSLE kids are so hardworking. I mean, studying till midnight with a short break every two hours? What the hell? The person studies more than me, even now. I don't remember studying at all, when I was in Primary 6. All I remember is playing catching, playing weird handgames (:D), talking crap (which I cannot remember), going to Qbing's house, and the canteen food. Oh, and I remember copying maths homework from Qbing (or someone, I don't know, I only remember the copying). Seriously, how the hell can a Primary 6 kid study so much? Even during PSLE season all I did was the assessment books the teachers made us buy (remember the one with the pink elephants in front???), and then slack off the rest of the time.

Let the kids play, because there will be hell later on. Why push them down now?

But enough about the freaky study habits of twelve year-olds.

On a slightly (not slightly, really) bimbotic note, I bought my prom dress yesterday. It's so not my type (I don't have a type, but really. NOT my type), but it is one of the cheapest (compared to the rest of yours, it is), and it fits, so what the heck right? It's from river island, and it's this black thing with blue/silver straps, so if you see one like that PLEASE DON'T BUY IT!!! Because it would be embarrassing, and you would probably look better than me in it (what with all the flabby arms and all that, and bad hair), so really, don't go buying black dresses with blue/silver straps. Ahem. Thank you.

I don't know what made me buy that dress. Oh, actually I do, the relatively cheaper price (which, in retrospect, wasn't cheap at all) and because I was really sick of trying on dresses. Seriously, how the hell can someone put on something with three puffy layers? One layer of those silky thingy called I-dunno-what, one layer of organza (which is the gauzy thing, and I know this because my cousin takes fashion design), and another layer of the outside material. I wore the dress top-down, and I swear I almost suffocated in that cake-like thing. Um, but that's not my dress anyway. Then the salesperson gave me a tube (as in, for the inside) which was two hundred sizes too small, and inelastic (and it was torn), and I practically had to be a contortionist to get out of it. Then there was a really easy to wear purple dress but it was too casual. D:

It is HELL shopping for prom dresses. A waste of time and money, and energy (I was actually tired after the day of shopping). Tell you what. If there is prom in Uni, I swear I'm so going to wear the same dress, even if it would be outdated and frumpy.

Now I need shoes, a clutch (as Koh says, when I said I needed a bag), a bra (I cannot believe I was stupid enough to buy a dress for which I had no suitable bra for) and random accessories, like el cheapo hairbands from pasar malams (because there is a pasar malam at White Sands now! Joy for cheapos!) and a shawl/jacket (because it's going to be cold there? I don't know, everyone says you're supposed to get one, in case). Who knew giving in to your girly side would be so exhausting?

Oh, and I almost forgot, make up. You'll have to cake you face with that stuff, which makes you feel all sticky (I think? But the only time I had make up on was during a choir concert, and it was bloody hot in the school toilets, in the pink fluff gown, so maybe that is why I think make up makes you feel sticky? Ah heck) and weird. I hate that stuff.

It's so easy for the guys, just a jacket, a nice, slightly formal shirt or a T-shirt (if you buy into the whole crap smart casual/semi-formal crap), and random pants from the cupboard. Even our school pants can work, I think, and sneakers. And more importantly, no clutch, not bad hair (all they need is gel, or some ruffling of hair.. come to think of it, if they just got out of bed, you could call it the bed hair, those messy but not, casual but okay hair), and best of all, no MAKE UP.

How great and easy is that? You could go with the bare minimum and still look dressed up.

But enough about prom lar. Before I get sick of it (too sick, that is).

I forgot what else I wanted to blog about. Hmm. Oh well, Koh is waiting for a blog entry, even though this entry is merely a pointless tirade against all things shiny and nice, like prom, and dresses, and shopping. So anyway, can't keep Koh waiting, so.

I really need Monday to arrive quickly. I checked all the email and stuff, and every single one is about prom, graduation, donating to the new campus. Everything stinks of post-A-levels, and here I am, languishing at home at 1.46am complaining and whining about Monday not arriving soon enough.

I spent most of the day playing the Guitar Hero, trying to finish reading The Handmaid's Tale (which is a whole new kind of torture), giving up and playing the new DS games which we bought from Sim Lim Square (which was a whole new experience for us).

Xumei was friggin pissed (or maybe it was just her cramps, I don't know) and kept saying we should have brought an adult with us when we were shopping for the NDS and stuff. But anyway, we survived many shops and men with "hen3 zhong 4 de jiang1 hu2 wei4", and managed to purchase our goods. I owe Xumei $70, which is an astronomical sum, to me.

If you have some free time and have nothing better to do, I suggest you go to Sim Lim Square for a fun time shopping. I mean, what can be better than going into shops and getting freaked out by $15 2GB memory whatchacallits, long and deep scars on peoples' arms and GST? I've never been to such an interesting place before.

* * *
On another irrelevant note, I really need to start shopping for a prom dress. Youb, Linette, Judy have already gotten theirs, Chip has done online research (typical), Yingyu has went looking for one (I think).

I think I have to pay for my own prom dress (T_T), because my sister suggested I buy from her friend's sister's blogshop, for a dress which costs merely $30, and I was all stupid and said something like "Ahh, forget it, I pay for my own prom dress lar" (when my mum was there), since she made it seem as though there wasn't any reason to spend more than $50 on a prom dress. Then I said the shoes cost money too, and she said, "You were a dress which covers your feet lar, then you can wear slippers, or go barefooted", a comment which left me so stunned I did not have enough time to think of a snarky reply.

What I wanted to reply was something involving a sarcastic comment about the difference between prom and a Disney Princess on ice show. But somehow the horror of a floor-sweeping dress/gown (shock!) was too much.

But anyhow, does anyone want to go prom shopping with me?

Editor's note: This is so terrifyingly bimbotic. I mean, dresses? Shopping for dresses?

Yeah, I haven't worn a dress in more than 10 years or so. I remember when I was younger (much) my mum and aunt used to dress me in those girly frocks, in pink, red, and yellow, with flower stitched/sewed/something onto them. I think those dresses kinda screwed me up a little, and I became the antithesis of a girly-girl (as in, tomboy lar), and abhorred all things pink and sweet (and girly). Thus the dress/skirt-less situation I'm in.

Wow, it's 2.11am.

I really should sleep, shouldn't I?

After Monday I'll either be entirely pooped, totally psyched, busy as hell, or bored to death. I hoped I'm not the pooped or bored though.

Actually I'm kinda freaking out about Monday, since it is the exam I place the most importance on (and study the least for, ironic). Let me remind myself again..

I LOVE LITERATURE!!!! <3

Okay. After that, I shall
1. Go out for dinner to celebrate, with the Lit people!! (I hope)
2. Start writing the college application essays and completing the online application
3. Start hounding the CollegeBoard for my $%^& online SAT scores

4. Pray that CollegeBoard would not ignore my emails again
5. Pay for college application/score sending/transcript sending (I know, it smells of rip-off)
6. Go Teoheng! (sound like a despo here, but it's been way too long since I went out and had fun. No, Sim Lim doesn't count)
7. Go for the $10 makeup thingie (it's on my sister's birthday..)
8. Buy my sister's birthday present
9. Look for a job (later on, I guess)
10. Dedicate a long post to the people I love (why do I sound like a pious Christian when I type that out? Weird)
11. Play Wii/NDS until I go crazy
12. Check in to Woodbridge (aka IMH) (Okay, never mind)
13. Invite people over to play Wii until they go crazy
14. Request for another IMH cell (lame)
15. Read all the chick-lit and brain damaging books because the National Library Board now allows us to borrow 8 books! Can life get any better? (I sound like a nerd. Wait, I am a nerd. :D)
16. Finish LOTR trilogy (the books, I mean), which I have been putting off for about 4 years..
17. Re-read old books, like Harry Potter, for old time's sake/just because I feel like doing so
18. Watch mind-numbing TV!!!
19. Go out even more
20. Oh, er, buy a prom dress. This list isn't really in chronological order, I guess.
21. Build a bonfire out of old worksheets and notes and/or sell notes to suckers who actually think notes work (well, our school is fairly noob still, and some notes are really messed up, take the Transition Metal notes (on which I drew a jigglypuff :D), or the Halogenoalkanes notes)
Nah, maybe I should
22. Donate notes (as if anyone would want them..)
23. Make another list of things to do after the A levels.

Yeah, that reminds me, my A levels are not yet over.

Damn.

Oh, before I forget, does anyone want to go for the SPH Scholarship talk on journalism (duh) on Dec 1? It's around the city area, Raffles something. Uh. Yeah. I'm looking for someone to accompany me. :(

(Personally I really don't like that smiley. And ":)". Because they look too flat.)

Okay, okay, I shall go. The next time you see me, I'll be back blogging with a vengeance! Since I would be free as, erm, something. Free as a fly? Free as fart (sorry)? Free as pie? Well, after Monday I wouldn't have to bother about similes, or sonnets, or iambic pentameter (er.) anymore!!

CIAO.

Here are some things I really really need to get done.

1. Read the Lit texts, for one last time in my whole life, I think. I mean, one can only read The Handmaid's Tale that many times before getting schizophrenia.

2. Apply for UC and stuff, which I so don't want to. Ugh. I mean, more essays? And not merely essays, but FLUFFY essays. I mean, come on!

3. Get a prom dress. Who wants to go shopping with me? Because I cannot go with my mother, I'll freak out. I think her idea of a prom dress is one of those fluffy big princessy types. Okay, I'm exaggerating. Or not.

4. Stop sweating the small stuff.

Argh, I am so high strung nowadays, I keep making sarcastic comments if someone gets on my wrong side (?). Like, I really bite their head off.

I think it's the fact that everyone is almost done with their A levels, and I still have to wait one freaking week! Arghh. And look around you, look at all the freaky happy christmas decorations. NO ONE FEELS MY PAIN!!!! Okay, sorry for this hyperbolic thing, just venting that pent up stress/crazy/anger.

NEED TO K/SHOP/GET OUT OF HOUSE!!!

On the side note, I haven't been doing much. Actually I haven't been doing anything. And can you believe it? It has been three weeks since I last used the computer. And in internet terms that's like ten years.

It's not.

Those who have ended their A levels. I'M SO FREAKING JEALOUS!!!

Yeah well. Seeya.
MORE PROOF I NEED A LIFE

I was googling stuff (because something in me holds me back from sleeping like a normal human being), and I came across (okay, I didn't "come across", I googled "fears") this page where they listed all the typed of phobias.

Here are some, if anyone but air is reading this, for your reading pleasure.

-Onomatophobia: Fear of hearing a certain word or of names.
-Melophobia: Fear or hatred of music. (Are you serious? Well, unless the it was music by people like, er, the karaoke singing people at the market opposite my block. That's shudder-inducing alright)
-Chrometophobia or Chrematophobia: Fear of money. (seriously? Choo Weilin would love this person, haha)
-Chromophobia or Chromatophobia: Fear of colors.
-Leukophobia: Fear of the color white.
-Melanophobia: Fear of the color black.
-Porphyrophobia: Fear of the color purple.
-Xanthophobia: Fear of the color yellow or the word yellow.

Okay, I'm too sleepy to continue. But credits to realfears.com, for these random phobias. Last but not least, I think I have a mild case of Ergophobia: Fear of work. That would explain so much.

CIAO, AGAIN. (Shoo, go study)

I know I'm probably being lame, but you know, ever since Obama got elected, the A level papers seem to have taken a turn for the better. Woohoo to crazy misplaced faith! (On, my part, not the American voters, since I think Obama was a good choice. I mean, Palin?)

So anyway, I'm feeling kinda slack-ish again, and I've regained my appetite (in fact, now all I feel like doing is to eat, and the sleep. I call it the pig-syndrome. If any of you become psychologists/scientists/really smart-ass-type dudettes later on in life, please pump in some research money looking for the root cause of such syndromes, that would do wonders to the millions of under-achievers worldwide.)

I freaking have to read Othello. Argh. And I am pissed off by Collegeboard, who (?) hasn't replied to my email (sent weekss ago). I'm hoping the new president would kick its money-minded butt, not that its butt is particularly greedy, you know what I mean.. Haha, nah. I'm just being anal.

OTHELLO PRIDE & PREJUDICE POETRY COMPARISON CHEMISTRY ECONOMICS CHEMISTRY BRAVE NEW WORLD THE HANDMAID'S TALE THE TEMPEST UNSEEN POEM/DRAMA/PROSE.

Then, I'm free! Kinda.

Gah, I really need this to be over, because I cannot stand going to school alone, and not remembering the days of the week, and forgetting that I just took a three hour exam about three hours after the exam, and falling asleep on the sofa even though I just came home from school and was feeling stinky and dirty, and oh man, I really need this thing to be over.

Until then, I'm stuck at home, or the library, or school, or the MRT. And that totally sucks. As you all probably know anyway. Ahh, I shall quit whining. Seeya Monday, Literature and Physics peeps, even though no one's reading, and I probably wouldn't see any of the other 39 physics people.

Anyhow, bye.
THE CATHARTIC QUALITIES OF BLOGGING
Wednesday, November 5 11:54

Okay, not really.

So anyway, although no one is reading this probably, I would still like to say:
OMFG THE GP AND MATHS PAPERS WERE LIKE #&^@&! WTH ARGHHH!!!

Fat lot of use that did. I'm kinda not studying for Chem yet, because somehow I feel braindead. I was so dead tired after yesterday's paper I reached home and just sat there watching therapeutic mind-numbing TV for 4 hours straight.

Ugh.

Okay, time to (rote) memorise Chem stuff. SOMEONE PLEASE SAVE US FROM THE HORRORS OF THE PAST PAPERS. We do want the school to be proud of this first guinea pig batch.

But anyhow, cheer up, and GO MUG! (hypothetically speaking, if anyone read this)

3 more weeks! (for me, at least)

GO GO! (power rangers)
