Vivien ♀ Twenty one (21) English Literature Major ✎ A Gleek ♬ I love you like a love song

The wasp is miniscule, compared to the fuhreakin' huge hornet.
I'm trying to read The Two Towers again, but I think the curse of the never-finish-reading is going to strike me again. I still cannot get past all the battle scenes. I always remember the scene of worm-tongue (if that is what they call him) and the withered (whatever) king who suddenly regains his vigour when Gandalf expels the former. But I never manage to get past the first part of the book. Damn.
Sometimes I think my dreams are more exciting than my real life right now. Oh gosh.
And now I'm out of things to blog about. Well, off I go to Kino!
14:12
I am bloody sick of the memes people keep churning out on Facebook, although that has never stopped me from doing them. Then I saw this "Longest meme in the world", comprising of 300+ questions and was sorely tempted to do it. But of course not, I'm not that desperate, yet. But of course I am desperate enough to do the 100 questions on FB. I suck.
Although I am getting super desperate at home. I'm going to go crazy if I don't see other people soon. You don't know what it's like being with only your mother/aunt, with your aunt telling you to go out more, because you're rotting at home, and your mum telling you not to go out, and waste money. I am slowly cracking, I tell you.
I just saw the clubbing pics of the people who went clubbing on Wednesday. I think make-up is scary. Really, really scary. It's like this veil of colour (though not as poetic) you cover your face with, and it transforms you into someone unrecognisable and unnatural. It goes in sync with my slight fear of killer clowns. Except make-up is more sinister. Sorry, not a big fan.
I am shouting at the world! Arghhh. I'm feeling so bored and pissed off at myself (for being bored, not finding a job, procrastinating...) that I end up feeling disgruntled and angsty (but in a totally screwed up way). With too much time to myself all I do is think of A level results and how boring my life is, and also how people are changing, and things will probably never be the same again. I never did like change much. Ah well.
Oh, and speaking of clubbing, you know why Soke had no money to go for Wenqian's dinner? Because she went to Zouk. I know this sounds so schizophrenic, because I was just lamenting and stuff in the paragraph before, but you cannot keep lamenting forever. So anyway, can you believe it? Zouk? I used to think that clubbing was for desperados, jerks, girls who want to get boyfriends, and guys who want to get laid, er, and the random bored teenager. I still think that clubs are for such people, but now I've also realised that clubs also cheat you of money, rendering you broke and incapable of attending more meaningful events. Ahem. Yes, I am so irritatingly self-righteous right? But I don't particularly like clubs and club-magnets-- poseurs--not that those who club are poseurs, but poseurs do club.
Don't ask me why I don't like clubs, I just don't. Shh. But anyway, SOKE MAY! At a club! What the hell was she thinking?
But you know what, I think my dislike of clubbing probably stems from 1) My reluctance to associate myself with anything remotely adult and boring (see also: Office Lady and Make-up)--yes, gasp! I think clubbing is boring, since I never liked crowded places/loud headache-inducing music/sweat/dancing (since I have two left feet, and that is being kind)--, and 2) The fact that I can't go clubbing, because my mum would flip if I came home later than 1 (and isn't that the point of clubbing, to stay out late just for the sake of it? Oh, besides getting hit on (?) by desperate guys), and as they say, if you can't join'em, hate'em. Okay, they don't say that. And also, 3) The desperate clubbers--uhuh, I totally agree that the people who go to clubs (other than random people who suddenly feel like clubbing) are loser guys who want to hit on hot girls, or girls who want to get hit on by guys (repetition. Sorry). I mean, who wants to go to a place full of those people?
There, I've said my fill. If you want to defend clubbing, feel free to tag/blog. But I'm sure none of you are that bored. Oh, and if you didn't bother reading that, I've shortened my argument:
PFFT CLUBBING!
Okay, now that I've vented my dislike towards clubbing, I shall, er. Think of something else to talk about?
Let's talk about blogs. There's really nothing to read online anymore. It's like either everyone's too bored to blog, or they're too busy with work, or their blogs are just too boring to visit.
Top 3 most BORING topics to blog about:
Bronze: Outings or gathering, if the blogger is particularly unskilled and can only blog chronologically, and in the form of a data logger, the happenings of the day. Ok, I know blogs are weblogs meant to, er, log stuff, but really, if you want to just list the things that happened in the day you might as well go be an engineer? Okay, no link, but my argument is weak anyway.
Silver: Emo blogs which talk about ambiguous emo happenings. Hello, if you want to open a blog, why don't you make it understandable? Emo can also be understandable, you know? I mean, the point of having a blog is to have it read, right? If not you would just write it in your secret locked diary with prints of teddy bears and hearts, wouldn't you? The worst kinds of emo entries are those which deal with ambiguous characters, leaving readers to guess and make assumptions:
"I miss him, and I want things to go back to the way it used to be. The lastand then it would end with some love quote, like
time we went out I was sitting there, listening to him, and staring up into the
endless blue skies. I wished it would never end.",
"When you are in love and you get hurt, it’s like a cut... it will heal, butI could strangle someone when I read those. Then upon investigation you find out that the blogger was talking about her relationship with her soft-toy rabbit, Mr. Hugs. Whoppee.
there will always be a scar."
Gold: The worst entries, in my opinion, are those which talk non-stop about how she went shopping and bought this or that shirt, accompanied by pictures. If I wanted that, I would have bought a catalogue, wouldn't I? If you blog about the trip and the stuff you bought (with pictures), but made up for it by using humour then it's okay, or if I happen to think of you as a friend, I would pardon your lousy blog entry. But if you're a bimbo and I happen not to like you and happen to be in a lousy mood at the moment in time, I would roll my eyes and swear not to go to that blog again. There, you have just lost a reader! Too bad for you! Muahaha.
Oh, and honourable mention goes to blogs with an excessive use of short form. I know, I used to blog like that too, but I don't now, so I shall be horribly nasty to you. I mn, isn it irrittng to rd smth lik so on a blg? No, u dnt thk so?
Argh I think this is pms, sorry. And who am I to judge blogs anyway? I shall now repent for all the horrible things I have just said. Oh, and a fourth prize should be given to people who blog about blogs. Come on, what kind of topic is that, you arse?
So, in lieu of my prize, I would like to think the Academy. I think you found this entry satisfyingly boring, showing you that maybe your life isn't as boring as Vivien's. Hoorah!

Instructions: Remove 1 question from below and add in a personal question, make it a total of 19 questions. than tag 8 people from your list, list them out at the end of the posting. Notify them in there tag board that he/she has been tagged.
I am not going to tag people. It's not as though everyone is as bored/unemployed/lazy/free as I am right?
q1) Do people treat you as side dish?
Some people do, I think. But those people are more or less people who do not matter/count in my life, so booya suckas!
q2) What's your most favourite thing to do?
I love reading. I am a bonafide nerd (although less intellectual/hardworking). I cannot imagine a life without books. I would rather go without food.
q3) What is the first thing that comes to your mind of when you think of love?
Kissing (yeah, that's what reading too much trashy chick lit does to you. Beware, girls!) or talking for long hours straight into the night.
q4) What kind of boyfriend/ girlfriend do you want?
Someone with a sense of humour. Must not be sucky, or prettier than I am, haha. I think pretty boys are friggin' gay, sorry. Then there are other criteria but I'm not sure what, since I don't think much about these things, unlike Chip. :D
q5) Is there somebody in your heart right now?
Is there?
q7) Are you afraid of pain?
Physical or psychological? I'm okay with short-term physical pain, like pinching, flicking (with fingers), or insect bites. The long drawn-out ones are the worst, like running long distances (which is psychological, I think). I am totally weak when faced with those.
q8) What do you feel like doing now?
This meme? DOH.
q9) If there is someone you love, will you confess to him/her?
Hell no. I'd rather run 2.4 km.
q10) List 5 things/people you dislike now.
SBS fares, screaming girls, girls with pretentious high squeaky voices, lousy blogs, and my current situation in life.
q11) What is your 5 most passionate things at the moment? (I think you mean, "What are..")
Going to the library (to borrow books!), blogging (to kill time and to exercise my dying brain), um. I am currently not in a spectacularly passionate mood right now, being the jobless and unmotivated person I am now. And broke.
q12) If you have to eat 1 thing for your whole life, what would that be?
Either potato, cheese or chocolate. Help me make the choice, will you?
q13) If you have a chance to be rich or happy, which one will you choose?
Happy. Because if I were happy I wouldn't need money what. I would be in the state of giddy oblivion. However if I had money but not happiness, then I would still be in search of it, wouldn't I? And that would make me miserable. I don't think this will make sense to you lar, I'm bad at explaining stuff.
q14) If you have the chance, which part of your character would you like to change?
My inability to speak to random people I'm not close to. I would have this screwed up impression that they were boring and inane (?) people, so I would tend to ignore them.
q15) What are your favourite colours?
Grey (despite what I said about Xumei's shirt. But it is ugly), white, black and red/pink? For now.
q16) Which country do you like the most?
Singapore, since I've never lived more than 2 weeks anywhere else. But I'd like to travel to Finland, and the US, and all around the world. That would be great.
q17) Which is your favourite band?
Right now, Fallout Boy(s?). Just because.
q18) Are you happy?
What the heck. Is this some philo type thing? Am I happy? Relatively, yes. But in absolute terms I'm not like happy-happy. I'm just bored.
q19) What is most important to you now?
Like Yingyu, I think my future. I don't want to become one of those screw-ups of society, living on the dregs of more successful people, mindlessly going about serving the kings of capitalism. Haha, so drama. And yes, being an office lady fits this description. Office lady in the sense that you do admin stuff/balancing accounts/customer service/PR stuff (never knew what PR was about. Then realised that it must refer to being phoney and insincere-Personal Relations being a euphemism for Phoney Riff-raff or something).
And yes, that concludes that meme. It successfully killed about 20 minutes of my time. Whee!
I shall return later.
01:59
But I did change my blogskin, and I linked thatblackdiamond (check the link "feathers"). You know, I had so many ideas for an entry about hours ago, but now my brain is just too dead to bother.
So I shall talk about this new skin. It has music. Yes, music! I never knew how those fancy thingamajigs worked, since my html knowledge sucks. And anyway, this music player is prone to screwing up, so heck it.
But I do like this skin. And I almost spelled skin as sckin. Yes, spelling is not something you'd do at 2 in the morning.
Yay, I can listen to music not from youtube now! And yes, I think I am incoherent at 2 in the morning. What's an otaku to do?
I have a confession. Right now, my life revolves around cooking instant noodles for lunch, reading (yes, reading is fun, but not something you'd do for up to 8 hours a day if you're even remotely normal. And I just typed "evenly remotely noraml" before realising my mistakes), coming online (occasionally), and sticking around for those annoying "you have an email from facebook.com" notices to remind me that I am in contact with other human beings (ironically, this human contact is made through the Internet). I am degenerating! Well, at least my brain is. When my sister asks me about some Chemistry stuff, or Maths (she is learning the circle equations now leh. Sec4!), I would go into this involuntary state of bewilderment, then I would get her to repeat the question, show me the question, then I would scribble some stuff in hope of remembering some obscure formula. Of course, to no avail.
I don't know if I am capable of retaking the A's. I am this close to freaking out okay. You know how scary it is to live in constant worry about the results? Especially if you are unemployed and have nothing better to do than let your mind wander.
But enough about that crap. It's not like it'll make any difference.
I am tired now. But somehow I think I'm sleeping too much. I mean, 8 hours is reasonable, but 10 hours is just too much. It's like when you wake up, the day's almost half over. That is scary.
* * *
Anyway, we went for the Wenqian gathering on Saturday, and did not take any pictures. Somehow without pictures it's almost like it never happened. Um, ok, at least others will not know it happened. Okay, being completely stupid and egotistic here ("HEY, LOOK AT ME!").
But anyway, we had fun sitting on the ground talking about random stuff, like sheep and Eric (you know, Eric, the librarian?). It feels so good to laugh again. It's actually quite difficult to laugh when you are at home with your mum every single day, since she usually goes about with her housewif-ey stuff.
Like Chip, I have high regard for housewifes. They have to cook, clean, wash, pack, iron (and I can go on forever), and what do they get? Not much, I would say. Unless you count "unconditional love", or "eternal gratitude" as the reward. Which are rather flimsy excuses really, especially if they're raising snarky teens who complain and sulk (like me. Whoops). I think I should appreciate what my mum does more (anyway I don't call her mum. It's just a generic term I use). And maybe iron some clothes. Since I have nothing to do anyway.
I don't think I can ever become a housewife (assuming a. I'll get married, and b. I'll have children). It's just too demanding, and you know what a deadbeat (according to Urbandictionary, A guy who sits at home pretending to work but really only chats in IRC and plays video games) I'm slowly becoming.
No, I cannot go on with my otaku-deadbeat-unemployed lifestyle anymore! I need to get a job/life.
But first I really need to get some sleep. Pardon the grammatical errors and typos, I'm not perfect. :D
Time to catch some ZZZZZZZs. Snore.
Monday, February 16 15:38
You see what lengths desperate people go to for some entertainment.
14:26
Anyway, we had the abbreviated version of the Valentine's Day dinner on Valentine's Day, eating at, drumroll please, the foodcourt!. Yes, and only Choo, Chip, Youbao, Jiayin and I were there, together with Qbing, June and Joanne. And so my Vday dinner was Ipoh hor fun.
After that we went onto the Esplanade rooftop (where we always go to when we realise we have nothing to do) to chill, watching people play Truth or Dare ("I LOVE TAU YA!"), and playing our own version, Truth, Dare, Pass or Laugh (c), and if you burp you must tell a truth. I know, it sounds so exhilarating doesn't it?
* * *
By the way, do any of you know who was the original artiste who sang the Graduation song?
Ahem, it's some ulu singer nicknamed Vitamin C. I had no idea. And even now I have no idea who that person is.
* * *
I have to go make Chemistry notes on acids, bases and salts for my sister, since I'm tutoring her on account that I'm going to be paid the attractive amount of $1 per hour! Yes, I am a lucrative business(wo)man, that I am.
And anyway NTU doesn't seem like such a bad choice, except for the bloody location problem. And the fact that they have so many engineering courses.
Anyway I had this nightmare where Mr. Cave was handing out our marked GP papers, and I just passed. And freakier is how my exam-related dreams always seem to come through; I dreamt I would get a B for PW and I did. Okay, so it was only on incident, but the coincidence is enough to freak me out. Best not to think about it, and wail only upon getting the results.
I have pretty much nothing to blog about le! Ah, the musings of a no-lifer. Tata!
Wednesday, February 11 01:26
So anyway, it's 1.30 in the morning, I am online blogging. If this is not the road to otaku-dom, I don't know what this is. Here's my life, in the form of a play:
Act One
Vivien is lying in bed with the blanket over her head. It is 10.30 in the morning. Her mother enters to room.
Mother: What do you want for lunch?
Vivien: [Mumbles something indistinct in her dreams]
Mother: You don't want lunch, okay. (when actually Vivien hasn't even heard her, oh no)
Mother exeunts (or whatchacallit)
Act 2
Vivien: Ughhhhh. [Moans at the sun and stretches self. Looks at mobile to determine the time. Decide it's too late to do anything. Ends up sitting on the sofa, reading Gossip Girl until 1 in the afternoon, then decides to bathe]
Mother: So late then bathe.
Vivien: [Mumbles something indistinct in the bathroom]
Act 3
Vivien: Duh... [with dazed look on face, watching some crap show]
Fin
Not a very exciting play if you ask me. I can literally feel my brain dying cell by cell. Soon I would be reduced to a blabbering idiot.
But on the bright side, I get to meet real people tomorrow! In the flesh! Well, not counting my sister, my mum, dad or aunt, this is something really exciting! Because I think, if I don't see real people soon (other than the aforementioned few), I would soon start thinking that I'm friends with Rachel, Ross, Chandler, Spongebob, Patrick, Squidward (not so much, though), Aang, and the assorted characters you see onscreen.
What I need is a job, a hobby which involves going out, some cause to volunteer for which involves me going out too, or some serious psychotherapy sessions to treat my excessive slackerism.
Slackerism-A state of mind induced by the sheer torture of having nothing to do
24/7, which causes patients to either hallucinate, stare into thin air, ponder
over useless stuff, or just become plain lazy.
Oh gosh I'm going mad.
I like the song Sweet Home Alabama. It's so summer-ish, and country, and happy. And it sounds like the people are actually doing stuff. I'd settle for anything which involves doing stuff. I don't even care what stuff. I'm going to force myself off my bum tomorrow, to walk, yes, gasp, walk to White Sands tomorrow. Partly because my ez-link is more negative than a doomsday prophet, -$0.83 or something like that, and I hate paying the adult fare. I hate, loathe, abhor, despise, find repugnance in, execrate, anathematize (whaa?) having to pay so freakin' much more than I used to. I am so furious that even the online thesaurus cannot express my fury! (As seen by the use of excessively out-of-place big (-ish) words.)
Where are the good ole' days? I have to wait around 40 years before I get to enjoy those cheap-o transport fees. So those good ole' days are either behind me, or way down the road. Oh well.
And about Valentine's Day, I'm getting lukewarm (why Luke and not Nick, Joan, or Adam? Was Luke the royal bath-warmer who got sacked/beheaded for doing a bad job?) responses from people like Yunxuan and Sokemay, and mild enthusiasm from Youbao and Chip. Okay, so I pretty much only mentioned it to these few, and the pitiful number of people who read my blog. I think party-planning productivity (or, PPP) is directly proportional to school-work productivity. Oh no, there go my plans for the reality show The Party Planner with Vivien Heng.
And guess what, it's 2.oo am! Tata people, sorry for not blogging much. It's just that with so little going on I find it difficult to overcome my writer's block more and more. And I'm just too lazy, heheh.
PS. Mediacorp dramas mostly suck. I have said this about Mediacorp dramas so many times that it's almost uncountable. But now it seems to have hit a new low, with the new 9 pm drama about Engineers.
So Engineers, we all know they earn a lot, we all know how all the smartarses who don't do Med or Law go there, as an alternative to those pharmaceutical stuff. Okay, I have to be fair, the storyline is that of the usual run-of-the-mill, tired ones, so I cannot count that as an all-time low, since it's pretty much usual-time low, and they even went to bloody Hokkaido to film it (probably sponsored by EDB, lucky squibs), how cool is that?
BUT, every single time they must go into the psycho-bloody-babble of boring engineering stuff. I mean, I care about the speed of the chemical bubbles (or whatever they were saying) as much as the next Singaporean, but seriously, I don't need a lowdown of the problems the machine was facing (apparently, the data, code or whatever-helluva thing was entered wrongly), and I really didn't need to hear more about the high-and-mighty profession of engineering every single commercial break. Apparently, scientists ask "Why?", engineers ask "Why not"; who gives a damn? The average viewer is probably asking "Why am I sitting through this sorta torture anyway? I might as well peel my bunions/squeeze my pimples/eat my socks."
I'm not being bigoted (?) or whatever. Engineering can be a cool profession (just one I am completely disinterested in), and I'm sure some (maybe 0.00001%?) Engineers get into the sort of weird situations like those featured in the show, but someone needs to tell the producers/scriptwriters there that there is a way to sell/say something, and the way is not hammering everything into the audience with an oversized sledgehammer.
Shit, why do I even bother going on these tirades, the shows are not going to change. Well it is rather fun criticising the show. But really, sometimes subtlety would be nice for a change.
Well, look at the time. I really gotta go. But before that,
BE AN ENGINEER. BE AN ENGINEER. ENGINEERS ARE WAY BETTER AT LOGICAL STUFF, AND SOLVING PROBLEMS, AND ALL THE THINGS MERE MORTALS CAN ONLY DREAM OF. BE AN ENGINEER. (And really, one advertisement had Tay Ping Hui (or someone) telling us how Engineers were better than other people at solving problems, or handling situations, or plucking carrots, whatever. We shall just sob in a corner, shall we?)
Bye! :D
Tuesday, February 3 00:20
I should get a life. Anyway, Youtube has a playlist shuffle function, so I don't have to limit myself to the few songs in this laptop. :D
Here’s how:
1.Open your music library
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that’s playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the ‘next’ button
6. Don’t lie

Well, at least this makes sense. Not the meaning of the song, but the title, at least.
Birth of child: Hotel California by The Eagles (there is a "The" right?)
Why? The lyrics are so macabre.
Mirrors on the ceiling,
The pink champagne on ice
And she said "we are all just prisoners here, of our own device"
And in the master's chambers,
They gathered for the feast
The stab it with their steely knives,
But they just can't kill the beast
Oh, and there are more of such dark lyrics in the song.
