A Heart So White

Vivien ♀ Twenty one (21) English Literature Major ✎ A Gleek ♬ I love you like a love song

I'll be there for you, 'cause you're there for me too
Sunday, March 29 15:02

I bought a guitar. My fingers now hurt, and I cannot play an F Major Chord.

And because I bought the guitar, I am now absolutely broke. Which means all my social plans (uh, no, I actually don't have any social plans, shhh) have to be put on hold for a long, long, long time. And it also means that I am totally supportive of the Disney Movies Birthday idea, because it is dirt cheap! relatively non-wallet-hurting fun.

I now understand what it feels like to be a poor musician. Except for the musician part. Because I cannot play the guitar even though I own one.

But if you ever need to learn how to play a guitar, THIS is decent. And, more importantly, free. :D

I bet I'll never learn how to play a guitar well. Because I cannot play an F Major Chord! And my fingers hurt. I'll have callouses soon.

I'll be there for you-
The Rembrandts

So no one told you life was gonna be this way
Your job's a joke, you're broke,
your love life's D.O.A.

It's like you're always stuck in second gear
When it hasn't been your day, your week,
your month, or even your year

but..
I'll be there for you
When the rain starts to pour
I'll be there for you
Like I've been there before
I'll be there for you
'Cuz you're there for me too...

You're still in bed at ten and work began at eight
You've burned your breakfast so far... things are goin' great
Your mother warned you there'd be days like these
Oh but she didn't tell you when the world has brought
You down to your knees

that...
I'll be there for you
When the rain starts to pour
I'll be there for you
Like I've been there before
I'll be there for you
'Cuz you're there for me too...

No one could ever know me
No one could ever see me
Seems you're the only one who knows
What it's like to be me
Someone to face the day with
Make it through all the rest with
Someone I'll always laugh with
Even at my worst
I'm best with you, yeah

It's like you're always stuck in second gear
When it hasn't been your day, your week,
your month, or even your year...

I'll be there for you
When the rain starts to pour
I'll be there for you
Like I've been there before
I'll be there for you'
Cuz you're there for me too...

I'll be there for you
I'll be there for you
I'll be there for you
'Cuz you're there for me too...

I don't know who The Rembrandts are, but I love this song. From Friends.

Ahh the tips are my fingers are scrapped raw. T_T Never mind. I shall go think about dinner gloomily, because I have suddenly lost my appetite for food. Looks like school boosts my appetite. And work, because at least I looked forward to eating the Maxwell stuff. But maybe that was because the employers were cruel and tried to starve us. Haha. They didn't lah.

But now I don't even feel like eating stuff. Like lunch.

Mum: "What do you want for lunch?"
Me: [Groans and thinks of all the BLAH food] "Aiyah I just eat instant mee
lah. So sian."

Eats instant mee for lunch.

End

Rhwoar! I'm going crazy! Rhwoar!
I am so not artsy-fartsy enough for MDA
Saturday, March 28 01:36

I have been waiting, waiting, and, well, waiting some more for my rejection letters.

First, UC Berkeley wasn't even kind enough to send me a rejection email and I had to go check okay! Then, PSC is still processing my application, according to their website, because I haven't gotten their rejection email referring me to MOE yet. Maybe my mail didn't arrive in time, so they haven't seen my photocopied stuff yet.

I hate waiting for things I cannot have. T_T And when you want to tell me I'm not getting something you should at least send me an email! (Talking about UC lah)

And now I don't know whether to appeal to UC or not leh! Waste stamp, haha. Then should I still apply for the MDA scholarship? After reading Memoirs of a Geisha I think I should burn the pieces of paper I write the Haikus and stuff on, to produce light during Earth Hour tomorrow. Hahahaha. Yeah, it's not funny. But really!

You should see how the Golding (that's his name right?) dude writes. He can describe stuff in such a lyrical way you would think he was really one of those poetry spouting Geisha of Japan. Not like they spout poetry lah. But he writes really really well, and he makes Sayuri real. Must read! :D

I feel so happy reading stuff. Even though the weather around me is killing me and making my sweat glands work OT (actually, no I'm not sweating alot. Shit. Must be the humidity clogging my pores. Or something), when I read good stuff I tend to be able to ignore the heat (or the rivulets of sweat rolling down my face. No it isn't really that hot. I just wanted to be lyrical. And I'm failing, haha), and thirst, and urges to pee. Which is bad for your bladder.

See? It's this sort of crudeness which makes me think I shouldn't be sending in a Literary portfolio. Ah well.

Darkness

Blankets and smothers
An endless mirage of night
disturbed by the stars

I really like everything about the night. The air is fresher, everything is less stifled and freer, and there is this gracefulness about darkness which the sun and brightness just annihilates. And it's even better if it's a rainy, thunderstorm-y night. Nice to sleep in, nice to be emo (if you happen to have overwhelming emo thoughts), nice to lie is bed thinking. When the weather is hot (so effing hot!) you cannot think of anything else in bed other than "It's so effing hot! When will I fall asleep!".

Sometimes I want to stay out late just sitting anywhere, doing nothing. I know I often do nothing, but doing nothing outdoors, and at night is a form of "doing nothing" I've never done before. And since I'm probably Queen of doing nothing I think someday I should try that sort of doing nothing. But if you're still reading this maybe you can contest me for the title of Queen of doing nothing.

Ahh effing hot!

The heat is ringing in my ears! (No it's not. It's just so irritating that I can almost hear it)

And yes, I am still watching Sailormoon. Episode 50 now. One quarter. Woohoo!

Screw University applications and scholarship stuff. I'll just get a bloody bank loan! *Banker miles away: "Heh heh heh. I sense a sucker far away!"*

Okay, probably they're not that evil. Not all of them, at least.

I am in love with all the slashing, underlining, bolding and italicising. Yay for fancy schmancy computer words!

I gotta go sleep or lie in bed thinking about sleep while the heat attacks me like flies over food in the sticky summer. See? What kind of artsy-fartsy person writes like that? :D Ah well.

PS. Please scroll down and read the paragraph of garishly red words! Those are important if you want to know how the planning for the March Birthdays (although March is ending soon. But time is relative. WE CAN SLOWW ITTT DOWNNNN, REALLYYYYY... ... ......) is going. But actually I can summarise it in two concise words: like molasses. Which means it's all gloopy and slow, and also murderous, as seen here.
Sedantary? I'll show you sedantary!
Friday, March 27 21:06

Uh. I am living the sedentary lifestyle. The last time I went out was to the library at White Sands and on the way home I bought apples, chips, mints and lemon 1000. Which are, right now, my life essentials.

I got rejected by UC Berkeley too. I can appeal using my A Level results, but should I? Uh. Should I? After thinking (yes, thinking!) about overseas studies, even if I get in, I don't know if I'll ever survive there. But if I don't go overseas, there go my chances of snagging an angmoh boyfriend living a remotely independent life.

But I still want to travel to California someday. Because it is California, like, Hollywood, LA? Superficiality on the streets? Uh, haha. It's still cool to visit. And then New York; because of those random books I've read, NY always seemed to me to be uber cool. And Friends, of course.

And I just found out that Judy is totally obsessed with Emma Watson..'s looks. D: But she is pretty lah.

I was in a shit mood for a while--sometimes, at least--, but coming online and talking to people really can kill a bad mood. Bah, why must people ruin a good emo?

Just kidding. :D

Oh by the way, for the long overdue (long, long overdue) March Birthdays celebration, Chip was suggesting a Disney Movie Marathon (at her house? She doesn't mind), then we can pig out on Pizza or whatever we order in. It's the ultimate slack fest, but everyone's so sick of all the University applications, who wouldn't want to just slack a day away?

Anyway, time to go! The news about the Grass Mud Horse is adorable. -_- I mean, the soft toys lah.
Rainbows
Monday, March 23 23:35

This is clearer. But still not that clear.

Rawr my throat is still killing me. I tried the lemon and honey method, but not the lime and salt method. Didn't buy limes lah.

But I've decided to screw my throat and eat all the throat killing food, because if it's not going to respond to all the stupid cures, I'm not going to bother anymore. :D

And since NTU replied me, I've decided not to apply to SMU anymore. It still has a cool campus, though.

My sister is watching CSS, and I cannot bring myself to be bothered about the show. Because I'm not going to be a teen anymoreeeee. T_T (Sobs like crazy) And anyway I cannot be bothered about kids singing and adults pretending that the winners are going to be anything but no-hit floozies. Okay so some of them can sing, but whatever.

I feel like one of those mean stooges (uh, what are stooges?) or geezers who speak in those wheezy voices and say mean stuff about youth just because they are jealous. I am not!

When I grow up (ha), I want to travel everywhere, and get cool and exotic jobs all over the world, like snake taming, or being a circus clown. And I want to learn stuff and never stop learning. I also want to walk through a forest and pretend I am in one of those LOTR books. And get lost in a sea of unknown people and random places. Oh, and I want to learn how to walk in heels, and wear dresses even though there isn't a prom. And run in the rain, chase after people on buses (like those duh-rah-mas), experience failure (like, debilitating failure? That's scary), and play in snow. And save the world.

Uh.

This is really random. I guess I am random when I am totally bored. But I just bared my soul to you. :D

I shall go, later gators.
Stupid haikus for portfolio?
22:40

I was feeling ultra-bored a few days ago, so I took a break from applications and stuff, and started doodling on this 2009 diary my cousin gave me for my birthday. And taking random pictures.

Aww, a nice rainbow. It's not very obvious, because the sun was setting. So it was slowly fading away. Within a few minutes it was gone. T_T

But don't you love how transient a rainbow is? (Gasp! An idea for a haiku!)

I have not been this stressed since the A levels; one can only take this many applications, and portfolio requests (I mean MDA wouldn't even answer my enquiry about what the portfolio requires. I mean, come on!), and rejections before going crazy. So I drew this to take my mind off all the shit. Didn't work and I screwed the feet and legs up, but whatever. :D

Yay Detroit Metal City tomorrow! I don't have to worry about applications and stuff for around 2 hours. Like Youbao, I need enlightenment too, but unlike her, I am an escapist, so the movies are the best.

Movies as a form of escape. Another Haiku/prose idea! I am good.

Not.
Stop your techno nonsense
00:38

I was on bus 12 home from Bugis when an impromptu concert was started by a bunch of chain-smoking (probably), laughing-like-monkeys Mahds (spelling?) and Minahs. It featured familiar techno tunes by Flo Rida and Lady Gaga, and the band serenaded the other passengers with those lovely, soothing songs.

I wanted to make a snide comment upon getting down the bus, like "Thank you for the concert on the go!", "I never felt happier getting off a bus", or "Shut the fuck up!", but decided against it, because I didn't need to get beaten up by a bunch of hooligans.

Yes, I am elitist that way. Those people will never get proper jobs (hey, like me!), and they'll forever be failures. (Oh, the self-righteousness!) I mean come on, what kind of _uckers actually raise their voices on purpose on buses? And sing together (this ain't some shitass musical, people!) in a CHORUS (and by chorus I mean a shouting chorus. And a tone deaf one, if I do say so myself), as though the bus was theirs. Even the St Pat's boys of yesteryear cannot hold a candle to them. Imagine you were stuck between tone deaf, hysterical hyenas and screaming banshees, and multiply the amount of frustration by 200, because this is happening in real life. I was this close to losing it, because I hate people who prevent me from sleeping.

On another note (which is hopefully in tune), I've decided to apply for SMU. Because they have a cool campus. And because NTU hasn't replied me.

Email person from NTU: "Man, this girl is so stupid she chose the wrong
option for the HCL thingy!"
Co-worker at NTU: "Haha, what a dumbass! Let's blacklist her and not reply
to her email; we don't want such dumbasses in NTU anyway."
Email person from NTU: "Yes, lets!"

T_T

Anyway I so so so so desperately want to attempt to find a job. But at the same time I am horribly afraid that I won't have time to apply and send all the pesky stuff on time. Ahh SPH scholarship. D:

Ugh.

I am so sleepy. It's 1.23am now.
Guitar (Hero)
Friday, March 20 13:39

Okay, I was checking out some "How to play a guitar" videos on Youtube. And I was googling it too.

So the plan is to buy a guitar, and hope I suddenly develop expert guitar playing skills overnight, or wish vehemently that some GH skills might have rubbed off me, OR suddenly become a musical prodigy.

Because you'd have to some sort of crazy genius to learn it online. Or really broke. One of which I am.

But then I'd have to get a guitar anyway, which is what me and Choo are planning to do because we saw this cheapo one at Bras Basah Complex while waiting for Chip.

:D
Hack, cough, hack
12:59

I am currently feeling very, very gay. D: Pardon me if you happen to hate Pokemon. And you can request to be linked if you want to have a super cool pokemon alter-ego. Or you can request for me to change your alter-ego too.

Anyway, the reason for this sudden onslaught of gaiety is because I got rejected by UCLA. Must be the lousy Prelim results lah. That only A I got was for Maths, and I got a C for Chem. T_T And since UC Berkeley's standards are probably way higher than that of UCLA, it looks like I'm doomed destined to do my Undergraduate studies in Singapore. Okay okay, it's not that the local schools here are bad, it's just that I've spent my entire 18 years or so of life studying here, under the same old merit-ohpuhlease-cratic system which is at best the worst place for slackers, and at worst a complete elitist crackpot place. And not to mention it being impossibly boring.

Nah, it probably isn't that boring, I'm just tired of everything here; I need a change in scenery.

But that doesn't explain the gay feeling, does it? Well, after getting rejected, I've decided that I should be happy anyway, because moping wouldn't make difference anyway. :D Which explains (sorta) the sudden pokemon theme of my blog.

And so, ONWARD WE MOVE TO A BRIGHTER FUTURE! Plus all the irritating University applications, and scholarships, and more rejections.

And speaking of rejections,

Important Questions:

1) Should I put Law as the first choice of FASS as the first
choice for NUS?
I know it's mad to put Law as the second choice,
because even as the first choice it's already crazily difficult to get in; as
second choice I might as well not put it. However I so so so want FASS more than
Law, mainly because Lawyers/Solicitors are boring only a
little behind bankers in the "Jobs for major jerks" scale.

2) Why isn't NTU replying my email about the MAJOR EL STUPIDO
MISTAKE I made in the application?

3) Should I apply for SMU? I kinda have nothing there,
but no one can deny it has the coolest campus out of the three. But applying
because of the campus is dumb.

4) Should I apply for the NTU/NUS scholarships? So
irritating okay, need teacher's ref. Moo.

5) And finally, now that I'm sure I won't be going overseas (unless crazily
enough I apply for the spring terms. No, no, cannot waste $), should I
still apply for PSC scholarship?
Like, 4 years' bond? What am I,
nuts?

6) Should I apply for the Spring terms? To UC? Now that my A level
results are out?

Okay, can anyone give me advice? Feel free to tag. Anyone who does it gets a VIP pass to my house for the next Wii session--you don't even have to plead! (Not that I know when the next session's going to be. :D Yeah, there always is a catch, isn't there?)

Moo. I am out of blogging ideas. :D Catch ya later.
Human-esque cats
Wednesday, March 18 23:13

I am a Facebook junkie! Don't try to make me go to rehab, I won't go, go, go. Because there isn't one for Facebook.

I have a sore throat. T_T

My inner hypochondriac is trying to come out, but I shall keep her down. Anyway I have a fun one question quiz for you quiz-a-holics! And by the way, yes, I am a hopeless quiz-a-holic now. T_T more.

Okay, here goes:

What has Vivien been doing these past few days?

a) Doing FB quizzes
b) Watching Sailormoon on Youtube
c) Making mistakes in the NTU application
d) Dying of sore throat, headaches and weird fluctuating body temperatures
e) Not really feeling the urge to blog because her life is so mundane
f) Sleeping and rotting at home
g) All of the above

Uh, yes, all of the above lar. That was disappointingly pointless. T_T T_T T_T

And yes, I am watching Sailormoon. Save me! I need to start looking for a job, I know. I also need to get a life. Since the two are mutually exclusive, I don't know what to do.

HOW HOW HOW?

Oh by the way, I want to watch Detroit Metal City! Xumei too. And Choo.
And I want to buy a guitar! And learn how to play it, online, haha.
I also want to shop.
Of course I need to get on my feet first.
Oh, bleh.

Writing Haikus

There is one strict rule
Remember five seven five
And it must not suck

Which is infinitely better than the ones NTU give for the ADM applicants.

University Applications

Are a pain in the ___
I would like to stuff ___ in their ___
Scholarships are ___ worse

Ahh my throat is killing me! I've tried everything. Everything, I tell you! Luo han guo, barley, pi pa gao, salt water (gargling), Hacks, Strepsils, gulping down as much water as possible, green bean soup, and lastly, speaking in a nasally voice (so that I don't have to pronounce the 'R's and the 'K's, which seriously hurt). But no, it's still here. D: It's even more persistent than me on Facebook doing inane quizzes. And that is saying a lot.

Bah. Anyone with a miracle sore throat cure?

I think the musical CATS is really creepy. I always found human-esque cats (or cat-esque humans) really scary. Even if they did give us the song Memory. You know what? I even found the Harry Potter movie scene where Hermione turned into a cat-esque human (because animal hairs do not work for the Polyjuice potion) creepy. Ugh.

But anyway I need to sleep, firstly because I am simply out of blogging ideas, and secondly because MY THROAT IS KILLING ME! I need to get my act straight. Boohoo. T_T

See you when my dawn arrives. Uh, whatever that means, haha.
Open Houses and frazzled brains
Sunday, March 15 21:43

I think the NTU surveyors read my email as cle-fairyviv, because of my sometimes illegible handwriting. Oh well, guess I'll not be joining the networking session (or whatever it was).

I told my mum that I thought NTU was a better choice for me than NUS was and she was shocked. As in "But NUS is better" type of shocked. I would disagree, but I couldn't find any proof to back my argument up, since I didn't bother researching the Singapore Universities anyway. I bet she wanted to rub it in the face of some rich relatives, like "unlike her richer cousins, she could qualify for NUS" or something like that.

Anyway the visits to both NTU and NUS Open House(s?) were pretty much uneventful and didn't quite change my opinions of anything. Probably because the NTU speakers decided to use the same slides, same jokes and the same student speakers as the ones during the Suntec NTU talk. Uh, at least the Duffy guy from the WKW School of Comm. did so. But it was still funny the second time round, I guess.

At least they weren't all "Oh, we only take in AAA/A students (and no, don't bother looking at the AAA/B 10th percentile people because they are weak) and we do not speak Cantonese so we rock, hahaha" elitists like the you-know-who of the other school. I've decided that I've freakin' had enough of elitist educators who fawn over elites, since for the majority of my schooling life I'd been facing such people.

And because of the elitist professor I am less confident about going there even though I don't care for his faculty. Uh, let's just hope no one stumbles upon this blog and realise I'm saying negative stuff about their school, lest I end up on some blacklist. You know how Singapore doesn't exactly like free speech. Even though if I turn into an elitist arse I would want someone to smack me in the face and tell me I suck, most people wouldn't like to be labelled as such.

So enough about all that. I'm now freaking out about the PSC essay (and thinking of abandoning the effort altogether, because they probably wouldn't even want me), being stupidly emo about elitism and some other indescribable stuff, missing the relatively choice-free days, and wondering whether my results are too sucky for me to get a scholarship, and also when the MDA person would answer my query about the portfolio. Yes, being stuck at home can do weird things to your mind.

I need some R&R (well, kinda). I want to go to Japan!

Uh, but right now I shall just entertain you with this picture we took with the muttons during the NTU Open House. We were too bored during the wait (for something I cannot remember), so we decided to go randomly take a picture with, uh, local celebrities (since we missed Milubing -_-).

It was pretty much the highlight of the entertainment part of the Open House, with the exception of downing 4 packets of GO! (whatever) milk in one go (GO!), and feeling nauseous for the rest of the trip home.

I should go write at least a few words of the PSC essay now. D:

Bye.
It can't be more final than this
Friday, March 13 22:39

I threw my old uniform away. T_T

Secretly, I'm a pack rat. I keep anything I deem to have sentimental value, or valuable memories, like ticket stubs (well, not really, I keep then to remind me of the movies I watched), doodles from excruciatingly boring lectures (you want to see? I have some GP ones. Or Chem), Postcards and letters (even those lousy angel/mortal ones), wrapping papers (well, some), broken pens.. and stuff like that.

So when my mum told me to throw the uniforms out so that there will be more space in the cupboard I was a little hesitant. Throw my memories--the skirt with the acrylic stains, the inexplicable discolouration (KMNO4?), the yellowing material (ew)--into the bin?

But I threw 2 shirts and 1 skirt away anyway. I kept the relatively new set (for posterity' sake. Not really), and the skirt with the discolouration and paint stains). I am hopeless.

Well at least I don't keep scabs from previous injuries. Bye. :D
CECILIA IS LEAVING
Thursday, March 12 12:14

To China, then to Canada. See what this piece of news did to the members of slackers club?

Choo: "I am so depressed."

Chip: "Go away, I'm emo-ing with my checkered socks. T_T"

Vivien: "I'm going to torture this carebear because I am so emo and angsty."
Slackers Club-(Cecilia+Tienleng): "Oh well, we got over it, let's play!" Actually I wanted to make it as though we were trying to commit suicide by jumping, but we looked too happy.

Anyway Slackers' Club had our first neoprints taken. Eh, at least the girls of Slackers' Club lah. And Choo (Chu-chu) was wearing green (the retarded house orientation tee), so she had to borrow Chip's mama-made sweater. So Choo ended up looking like she was sitting in a striped sack because she didn't want to stick her arm out. D:

SLACKERS ARE LOVE!

Oh gosh
Tuesday, March 10 22:10

Oh oh, I forgot to blog about something. You know how my hair became even weirder than usual after my most recent haircut, because of the extra long sides/fronts/watchacallits which makes my hair look uncut. So enough about the descriptions.

Yesterday I trimmed my own hair! Now it is even weirder than before, even though you probably cannot notice any difference. At all.

Maybe it is a subconscious effort to accomplish something less boring, for a change. And get out of all the university stress stuff.

Chip was asking me when we were celebrating Soke May and Jia Min's birthdays. Uh. I am so absolutely not sure how to answer this. So, please tag and give me your opinions on whether we should celebrate this soon. And if it is too soon. Because I dare not ask people, haha.

* * *
Cecilia just told me that she would be leaving on the 13th. Oh gosh.
epitome of boredom
21:03

Things to blog about:

Suspense of waiting for A level results
A level results
--Cannot mope, would seem like an asshole; cannot rejoice, would seem like an asshole; empathy, too boring to blog about
Desire to get a job
--Been there, done that, at least 5 times in previous posts
Thoughts of finally graduating
--Uh, done that too
Boring emo blog entries
--B-O-R-I-N-G
My mood
--That would probably get you all to puke, and it's not like I'm feeling much anyway.

I'm just feeling frustrated and depressed from all the scholarship applications (don't even think I can get them anyway), essay (the PSC one, darn, I can write those fluffy ones for US, but not the serious ones for Singapore), and miscellaneous stuff like how my results probably won't qualify me for the scholarships. Oh looky here, I just blogged about my mood.

Ahh I don't feel like applying anymore! This is even worse than the UC applications, because now I need teachers' recommendations. D: And I have to mail stuff in. Double D:

Can something happen to me so that I can have something to blog about? I don't care what, just let me lose my senses/temper/boredom for a little while please. T_T I need to go shopping. Because I am seriously sick of the stuff I've been wearing over and over and over again, and I just want to get out of the house and forget all about University and stuff, because I am not ready. And I just want to get into UC, then I won't have to apply for any other Universities. And really, the courses offered locally are pretty sad and boring. But of course if my dismal (by scholarship and Law standards) results cannot get me a scholarship I'll have to stay in Singapore anyway. Ah well.

Let's just hope things will turn out well, no? And it's not like the end of the world if I don't get into UC. But it'll still be sad.

Anyway, I've bored you all enough right? I need to get a life. Or at least an imitation of one. Anyone wants to catch a movie? Any movie? I'm begging you.

Ciao anyway.
You could have knocked me out with a feather
Sunday, March 8 15:24

If you stay on my blog long enough you'll get to hear Antisocial, a French song from Guitar Hero. Then maybe you can practise singing it for the next session if I do plan to have one.

Anyway I was packing all my result slips, testimonials and certificates when I saw the Year Five testimonial, which was riddled with outright lies. For example,

"In the year 2006, Vivien... ...scored A grades for all her subjects."
, or, if you prefer a debatable one,

"...displays keen interest in Mathematics."

, because it was the only subject I got an A for in 2006.

And of course the 2008 ones were also filled with euphemisms. Like the one talking about Xplore:

"...led her group of students... ...with much enthusiasm and fervour."

Which is all very fine and dandy actually. You know how I said I wouldn't be able to blog in a while? Well it looks like I cannot keep to that promise (not), because I am simply too bored of everything else on the Internet. Read blogs? Been there, done that, mostly bored or they didn't blog. Facebook? Oh god, don't even mention that. Scholarship pages? T_T Oh please, give me a break, besides, I don't even know if I can get one, considering my suck-ish Chemistry and PW grades. So other than blogging, the other thing I can do online is to cyberstalk people, and that isn't even that fun really. I don't really want to look at people's photographs, or their profile changes. Although I would stoop to occasionally reading their blogs if it becomes too boring. Which I just did a while ago.

Where is my life? That was a rhetorical question, and a trick question, because I don't have much of a life now. Now that the results are out I'm waiting in suspense for the UC Berkeley announcements on 26th March.

Man is my entire life about waiting for people to pass some judgement on me, determining my future? Please say no. O_O

Anyway I did the Brightsparks survey. Hope I win the laptop, then I wouldn't need one for University. D: I know, so cheapskate right? Damn it tertiary education is so expensive. And now that March 6 is over I don't get specific, terrifying dreams anymore. Noooo, instead, I get blurry, indistinct and confusing dreams leaving me unsatisfied and disorientated when I wake up. Bad.

And now, song lyrics posting time! Uh, just because I have nothing else to blog about, and I really need some motivation to get off my butt.

Make it mine-Jason Mraz

Wake up everyone
How can you sleep at a time like this
Unless the dreamer is the real you
Listen to your voice
The one that tells you to taste past the tip of your tongue
Leap and the net will appear

I don't wanna wake before
The dream is over
I'm gonna make it mine
Yes I... I will own it
I'm gonna make it mine
Yes I'll make it all mine

Eh, well part of the song, at least. It's a nice song. :D Okay I shall leave now.
Tea and sympathy
Saturday, March 7 23:11

I've decided not to blog for a while, because I suck at sympathy (ask anyone who has cried and happened to be near me. Either I stone or offer them a tissue in a totally brusque way), and I have nothing important to say anyway.

But one thing important is that yesterday, March 6, marked the official end of our lives in Dunman High, as the pioneer batch of IP students. Yesterday was probably the last time I would ever see majority of the Class of 2008 people. Those acquaintances, the awkward silence, "What do I say, dumdeedum.." people, the "I've only said one sentence to him/her in my life" classmates, the rumour-mongers/spreaders/victims, the various cliques (emo, clique, randomites-whoever they are, blah blah), the clevers, the funnies, the lamers, the old classmates, the lost friends, and even the unrequited loves (hahaha, snort) of old. All these would just be memories, and nothing more (and also nothing less).

I love Dunman High, even with all the quirks, the bad teachers, the mess, the Cheena atmosphere, the psychological fears, the irritating SC-planned events, and last but not least the craziness of building and making up the entire DHP from scratch (or getting cheated into it). And I love all the friends, and the not-friends I have made in these six years, which I'll cherish until I turn to dust under the earth, feeding all the creatures of the dark. Uh, digress.

But I guess we all have to move on sometime huh. Although I don't want to leave it all behind. And I hate to think of all the friends who would probably be going overseas, and becoming too busy with their careers and full lives, and never having time to meet up that often anymore. Promise me that won't happen? T_T

I love you people, who have made my life far from perfect (who cares?), but so totally fun and unexpected. And whoever is reading this, I wish you all the best in whatever you do in the future, be it becoming an MP (with a bald head and bad complexion), a dramatist (for all the drama queens in the world), or a mother (think of Choo Weilin and her "Married at 21" label). Good luck!

Whoa, doesn't this sound like a last entry sort of thing? Maybe if my readership starts dwindling even more I'll start thinking of closing this blog down. Eh, it depends on the emo-content of my state of mind at the moment. But for now this blog isn't dead yet. Shit, I'm feeling so emo and stressed out about all the farewells and stupid 10 day scholarship application deadlines(respectively, and the reason I didn't start applying earlier is because I didn't want to get my hopes up too much). But anyway, 'till next time, when everything has died down and the world is bright again. See you :D
morning musings of a nauseous person
Friday, March 6 11:25

Good morning people. If you are reading this you're either too frazzled to concentrate on anything in real life, or you're sick and tired of waiting for 1.30 to arrive so that you can get off your butt and start journeying to school.

After talking to Chip and Choo online until about 1a.m. (about anime and handsome squidward. Anything to take our minds off tomorrow (or today), I think), I lingered (and died) online until about 3, where I suddenly realised that I really, really needed to sleep right then. So I slept until 10.

And now I'm here! I woke up really nervous, and throughout the whole time I was reading the papers I was not even concentrating the littlest bit, because I was too freaked out ("Ooh nice shoes! (in Urban)." and then, "Must try not to puke on the paper."). I had some cheesy jam bread thing from fourleaves for breakfast (hey! Jam and bread!), with a half empty (half full?) cup of milk (because it ran out. Aww). Then I went to bathe. Yes, my day so far has been boring.

But anyway, I came here to calm my nerves. Yes, blogging calms my nerves. Yunxuan had some "passion fruit and peach tea" to calm her nerves, according to Yingyu, and Yingyu drank beer last night.

But anyway, aside from the occasional nauseous feeling in the pit of my stomach (threatening to send anything I eat on an upward trajectory, whatever that means), I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that if I have no expectations it would be much easier to exceed them.

And at least I won't have bad hair when I receive my results. That's always a plus.
HANDSOME SQUIDDY!
Thursday, March 5 23:14

Oh, a tell-tale sign that Choo is losing it too is her overt obsession over handsome squidward.

Yes, yes, he looks like Sylvester Stallone.

And regarding tomorrow, I have reached a decision to screw whatever thoughts I have tonight. :D

Still, GOOD LUCK! Again. I think if I really feel that bad tomorrow I'll just go shopping lar.

OMG OMG OMG
21:32

Hello. I am now watching the new 9 o'clock show which is about ten septillion times better than the bloody engineering-propaganda show okay. It's about housewives, bra-thieves, p6 students with tonnes of tuition, and not about stupid love curses, kind-hearted, innovative engineers, and dancing competitions. Good for Mediacorp for not showing that propaganda crap anymore. Give me run-of-the-mill shows any time of the day.

Anyway I got a haircut with Choo and Xumei yesterday. The hairdresser was like all cute and giggly (eh, girl hairdresser). Too bad my hair had the tendency of curling up, so sometimes, at certain angles, my hair looks like, er, I don't know like what, it just looks bad.

Oh, and me, Yunxuan and Yingyu went out today to watch He's just not that into you. Which provided one hour plus of distraction from the looming whatever which occurs tomorrow. Then we pigged out, and I mean, pigged out at Swensen's just for the sake out pigging out. Luckily the results are out tomorrow, if not I think I would at least gain like 10 kilos due to the agonising periods of not knowing you-know-what.

And there's the clean boat (?) after we devoured the banana split (and no, I'm not talking about Xumei's hair).

Poor Sokemay with her birthday tomorrow, what with us not celebrating. D: And Jiamin lar. But still Sokemay is the worst hit. I cannot imagine how I would feel if the results came out on the 6th of December. But then again I was on a cruise.

Anyway Chip the bimbo (haha) is checking her horoscope for her lucky colour to wear tomorrow. And Baojia sent me a message not long ago about her remembering green giraffe's name (and she sent me the wrong name okay). And Choo was talking about the lousy Dragonball Evolution movie trailer, which is pretty normal. And Yingyu was playing Hexic, which shows how extremely bored she really was (or is). Oh, and she was talking about wearing red for luck. Looks like almost everyone is losing it, one way or another. Mooo.

I'm checking my horoscope too, anyway. Hmm, so, lucky colour, grey (darn, I don't have grey underwear!), lucky item, bread and jam (don't ask me why).

I read this psychology book about how superstition was really unlucky (because of how people's superstitions can cause monetary losses and loss in efficiency, aiyar, the usual). But who cares right? Because I've nothing to lose, and I'm already losing it as I type. I type to help keep me from freaking out. Ahh. I guess it'll be a sleepless night, unless I sleep at 3 or something.

And Choo is waiting for my, eh, "final mood". I think... I think I'm calm now, but you know what they say about calm before storms. Subconsciously I'm probably freaking out. And I'm not going to be able to sleep for a long time tonight.

Good luck, people.

And here's what my inner-self says:

"OMG OMG OMG!"

But don't mind me. :D Damn, Tatiana got into the wild card round. What? -_-

Um, good luck. Please don't think I'm schizophrenic or have ADHD. I'm just too fidgety now to have a straight thought. See you all tomorrow.

A Level Results Out on Friday, 2.30pm
Monday, March 2 19:06

Sorry for spoiling your appetites. I spent the whole day at home in a semi-freaked out state. And I still cannot play Sweet Home Alabama on expert! Noooooo. I completed like 90% of it (it's freakin' long okay), then I failed. Bleh.

Anyway I was languishing at home in my usual state of stupor watching some show on TV when my father told me the results would be out on Friday. In a matter of seconds it seemed as though all my worst fears were realised. Ok, not, but after that I was restless and fidgety. Really, I was walking around the house (which already wasn't that big) and banging on the walls, trying to take my mind off Friday. Guess what, it didn't work. If not I would have been blogging about butterflies and daisies, wouldn't I?

And I've been having these depressing conversations about Friday with various people, which have successfully set the mood suitable for either:

a) A funeral (or, a FUN-eral!)

b) Going to war (according to Yingyu)

c) Going to hell.

Oh gosh. I think the whole scaring each other thing is going to make me suffer from insomnia. Whoops.

On another more serious note, Xiao Wei is blind! Oh my gosh, whatever will Yuan Jing do? And is it because of the curse of Jiale that caused it? Will Jiaqi end up with Sato? This is so exciting!

Not.

Oh, by the way, heard about the whole NTU lecturer-almost-got-killed-by-student thing. What the hell is wrong with the world? What is so serious and irretrievable that that dude had to resort to attempted murder and suicide to get over it? And why the lecturer?

Crazy.

Which is probably what I'll become on Thursday night. But then not crazy enough to become a teacher killer. Although I cannot be too sure about that when I get back the results. Just kidding lar. Because, I believe that although life will never turn out exactly the way you plan it to, stuff will always turn out right. Even if you screw Friday up, it's not the end of the world.

Right?

I mean, there are always other choices, and you'll just have to explore and hike and take some otherwise untrodden path. Maybe it'll even be fun, who knows?

Okay, remind me to read this post if you see me all screwed up with anguish on Friday okay?

Ahem.

What else is there to blog innanely about? Um. Um. Um. Okay, my favourite pics of the years!

Uh, 2005. I only have about 5 pictures or so of 2005. And this is so cute! Haha.

Graduation in 2006. Well, Graduation Part I. And Mr. Sng! Nice picture and backdrop.

And this was taken during, er, Xumei's brithday in 2007. When we were at Suntec and fooling around with the Fountain of Fortune (or whatever), and getting all high singing, and getting weird looks from people around. Where did the days go?

Graduation 2008, the real (?) thing. And Mr. Sng again! Don't we look all spiffy? Somehow I think Friday is the real graduation. Uh, graduation into the real world, and the tumultous (nice word) future. Oh gosh.

And this, again. Sorry lar, haven't taken that many pictures this year. Yet, I hope. <3
Ah well. :D

First Birthday Photos of 2009!
Sunday, March 1 22:38

Just wanted to post some photographs, I guess. I didn't go for Ada's birthday celebration ("I cooked corn soup, there will be too many corn if you don't eat! Why didn't you tell me earlier?" "Okay, I not going! D:"), but I think they didn't take pictures bah. Anyway, birthdays coming up include Cecilia's (Slacker's Club alert!), Jiamin and Soke May. All of which may be in jeopardy, because everyone knows that March brings something in its wake, besides the first flowers of spring. You know what I'm talking about.

These two photos show Choo in varying degrees of femininity. Gasp, does that mean that once you're 19 you become a woman? Congrats, Choo!

Us in her bedroom, photo courtesy of Choo's father, who turned spy for us to surprise Choo. And that was a nice hat, by the way. Oh, Chip's face is half-blocked.
I think the project365 thing is interesting. Too bad if I chose to do it you would probably see unvarying shots of me, trapped at home. Boohoo.
* * *
I threw my handphone on the bed and now I can't find it. Damn.
Oh, never mind, I found it.
* * *
I'm addicted to Whose line is it anyway. Because the humour is not too cheem to understand. You can tell how bored I am by the fact that I stayed up till 1 last night to watch episodes on Youtube. But it is funny. Really.
Although they always reuse some jokes ("Man, it's cold in here!"). But still.
Lalala. I should have went cycling today! Ah well.
Um, I really have nothing else to blog about, you know. Eh. Bye.
I am wiki-ing the A-levels
20:05

I think the worry of screwing up has finally found a nice lodging place in my head. And thus, it is driving me nuts. Everyone's saying how the results are coming out on Friday, and I am this close to eloping with my teddy bear to Gretna Green freaking out. How how how? Did you all see the email on DHS mail, the one from Mr. Poon asking for provisional entry/scholarship thing? He said something about the press. THE PRESS. I am so afraid of royally screwing up the school.

And I haven't applied for any scholarship, because I cannot be sure I even qualify for applying, and I cannot face the disappointment if I apply halfway and, you know. Argh, scared scared scared!

Besides that, I cannot play Sweet Home Alabama on expert! My fingers keep sweating.

It never rains, it pours. And yes, it's been pouring like crazy recently. Which would explain why I've been falling asleep in the afternoon, because everyone knows there's a correlation between heaviness of downpour and hours of afternoon naps, even though it may or may not be a causal one.

Oh, oh, forgot to tell you all, I got my bloody first paycheck of my life! Even though I was paid pittance (but then again I only worked for 9 days), it was made from my blood, sweat and tears. Okay, not so much those stuff, but there was hard work okay. Yes, I think checking the Internet for labour laws can be categorised as hard work. And typing my very first resignation letter. AND answering calls, being hypocritical and being rude to irritating customers (not on purpose, though. I think it was my subconscious mind surfacing). In all, this working stint has taught me a hell lot, like dealing with unreasonable people, both customers and superiors, and also transferring calls (who knew it was an art?). And then there's the money, which was a fraction more than what I expected to get (I expected a hundred, or less).

But who has the time to rejoice over a paycheck when Friday is about to arrive?

I had a few dreams about receiving the result slip, but I can only remember two. One dream was extra strange, because there were four different pieces of the result slips floating (uh, yes, floating) in front of me, then I heard the disembodied voice of Qianbing exclaiming that she got 4 'A's in a very happy voice, then I checked one of the four floating slips, and only saw the results for GP and Lit. I got D for GP and E for Lit, and I was crushed (not so much due to GP. And seriously, GP results better than Lit results? No way). Then the rest of the dream I cannot quite remember, except it pretty much revolved around the four pieces of floating paper. Then the next dream was the one where Mr. Cave gave us back the marked GP A-level papers. Horrible, believe me. Sigh, the only thing worse than doing the papers is waiting for the results. Hellish periods of anguish and pain, intense, dude!

Ew ew ew, Lin Youjia (or Yoga, or Toga, I couldn't care less) is singing on some TV programme. There goes my dinner. He has this look on his face which pisses me off. And he cannot sing. No, really, he cannot sing. Sorry if any of you love/like him. But then again, you cannot blame me for your bad taste.

Anyway, enough about that. I have a news update! Choo just won both the bronze and silver awards for the "Boring Blog Topics" categories, and the honorable mention! That would be difficult to beat. But that doesn't stop Chip from going for gold, according to what she just told me. Good luck!

* * *
The end is nigh! They say the world ends in 2012? I've just received some inside information that that is rubbish, because signs seem to point towards the sixth of March. Oh no oh no oh no.
* * *
Eh, never mind my paranoid ramblings.

Oh, I've just got a news update! Chip has just won both the silver and the GOLD awards! And honourable mention for short form. To see this award winning piece of blog entry, please visit this cool blog! You will see a master at work, with two artfully selected photographs. It's a tough one to beat, girls!

Oh man, what kind of madness have we descended upon? I guess we're just too bored, huh? Here's proof of that:

Credits to Edvard Munch. Sorry for ruining your art piece. Although I must say, she does look more terrified.

Till the 6th of March, people. Or some other date, if this rumour proves false. I shall be brave!
