Bad stuff:
1. I fell down in the middle of the zebra crossing because my slippers provided no traction whatsoever. Actually, I fell twice; the second time was when I was trying to get up, and I slid on the slippery part (the one where yellow thick paint is) of the road again. So now my knee has abrasions.
2. I went in for the wrong tutorial lesson (my tutorial starts at 5, I misread it as 4 instead, smart), so after a round of self-introduction, the tutor started taking attendance. After she read out thirty names in succession, I realised that my name wasn't called, so I questioned the tutor, and she asked me if I was in the correct tutorial group. So I asked, "Is this DW13?", to which people answered, "No...", and started laughing. I didn't mind the laughing thing because it was seriously stupidly funny, but I cannot understand how I got myself into such a total-bimbo-fail position.
3. Overate. Meh, need to stop having so much supper. But the Sheares supper (much like the layout of its buildings/blocks, and its photocopier in the lobby for residents to use) is overtly better than anything NUS has to offer (for supper). I'm broke now, though.
4. Splurged on hall supplies (wtf $5.50 for tea?) and notebooks.
Good stuff:
1. Visited Koh's room today. No comments on the room though. :D Shall be nice.
2. Bought awesome notebooks! Nothing can beat stationery! ♥
3. Had lunch with Yingyu!
4. Met Xumei (traveled to FOS with Peixin and got pretty lost), chatted.
Okay I'm really shagged now. UP tomorrow! The joy.

Maybe I should forget about waking up at 7am for hall breakfast (since I only took 2 buns--red bean, cream--and left), and instead buy a cup of take-out coffee to wake myself up. Because I was practically sleeping with my eyes open.
And since class participation contributes to 10% of the grades, I should stop staring into thin air and keeping silent during tutorials. Which means I must interact with the scary people who have read the chapter on Judaism.
Tutorial teacher (or whatchacallit): "Have you all read the chapter on Judaism?"
Entire class but me: *Earnest nods*
Me thinks: "WTF ALL BLOODY 50+ PAGES?" T_T
Yep I need to pull my socks up (not wearing socks). It's different from JC, where if you don't do tutorials you can still copy them from your beloved, non-lazy-bum friends, because how the heck can you copy readings?
Which means I'm now behind in my readings (because I need to do Christianity readings too). My lecture/OG friend was commenting that he regretted taking the module. Ah well, too late for regrets.
Anyway, back to the topic of tutorials, the teacher (?) for my EL tutorial is, guess who, Doctor Hiramoto aka aforementioned lecturer. She's quite nice, albeit in a not-nice way. Uh, I have no idea how to explain that, crash an EL lecture one day and you'll find out. But I don't think you can crash it because there aren't that many free seats in the LT after all the people stream in.
I smell food! I think the block committee people are preparing for Black Theme Night, which, in my opinion, isn't that fun actually. I don't even know my block people that well since I'm antisocial and unfortunate enough to land a room tucked in a remote corner linking to Block E. So I don't really go for all the Block-y stuff (like food preparation for tonight, whatever). So depressed! The girls in the block all seem to know each other (okay, they do know each other--same OGs, JCs), at least for the happening stretch of the block, so I'm like lost in oblivion eating my choco-babies like there's no tomorrow.
No lah actually I'm just being dramatic. And speaking of dramatic, it reminds me of Edwin Thumboo's dramatic poem Ulysses by the Merlion, which we did during the EN tutorial. I was under the impression that the speaker (and thus the poet) was a little critical of Singaporeans (because he used words/phrases such as "mutate", and "changed their gods", and "surfeited on them", which seem to me like some sort of criticism on Singaporean's overt focus on progress and development), but no, apparently he was just full of wonder and was earnestly hopeful of the future. Looks like I need to brush up on my Prac-crit
Gah maybe I'm just prejudiced against Singapore poetry. Like, everyone must be cynical and sarcastic, to show the irony of the Singaporean Identity (whatever that is)! Uh, I need a bath.
And I was planning to slack my University life away, but seems like that is an impossible goal now. Now that I've read the modular requirements, that is. Did you know that to get a first class honours degree you need to maintain a CAP of 4.50 or higher? That is tres impossible (shh I know I'm slaughtering French, pardonnez moi). That's like A-, and you still need to get an A- for your thesis paper. Tough nuts (tough and nuts, that is), dudes.
How, I want to get an honours degree! Even though I have no idea what good it does (I don't know what an honours degree is, basically), but it's probably better than not getting an honours degree. But getting a third class honours degree isn't that awesome either. Which means I need to get started on my readings (which are piling up quite scarily, to be honest), and doing the EL stuff (if I want to even pass the module).
Other than the initial shock of reading the modular requirements (still quite shocked, to say the least), today was a fine day. Because I had an Incidental Lunch Buddy (aka Judy). I was prepared to eat solo at The Deck (note the caps, The Deck, not the deck hahaha) for the first time, but luckily Judy was there! It's great to see friends around. ♥
I'm blasting Love Game in my random loneliness. Why is my loneliness random, you ask? I don't know. -.- Yay, hot dates with Koh and Yingyu tomorrow, I think. :D Must double comfirm with them again.
And then there's NM tutorial tomorrow. The joy of anticipation (will I know anyone there?)! I was so happy when I saw someone from my hall (whom I kinda know by name, hi-bye-small-talk-type) in my EN tutorial today. It's like receiving a small gift on a cold, dreary day *roll eyes at bad simile*.
Wah why is this post so long again? I really need to get on with my readings! And EL tutorials, which we were supposed to do before the tutorials (like, totally). Okay, I shall go do work/pack my desk (AGAIN! I AM SO MESSSSYYYYY).
Hasta la Vista, babies.
Tuesday, August 25 21:43
Anyway my fourth finger got whacked straight on by a flying power frisbee and now it's bruised. Hurts a hell lot when I try to straighten it, sob sob.
But frisbee is fun, nonetheless. Reminds you of the times when you laze around sandy beaches, leaving in breezy straw huts, drinking from fresh coconuts. Not like I've ever done that before, but the idea is there. Suddenly I'm stricken by the urge to go to Sentosa and test out my newly darkened skin, see if it still gets sunburnt. One thing is for sure, my face/nose will get sunburnt. And my thighs/knees. I still remember Xumei saying she wanted to go to Sentosa to suntan! Me want go sleep on sand. And cam-whore.
We really should start sending each other our timetables to see when we're free. Nerds.
Contrary to what Yunxuan says on my tagboard, I am anything but enthu. I just happen to sign up for a lot of random stuff because I'm under the impression that the people I know will join too, but more often than not I'm left crying in my corner because I don't know anyone. But when I do know the people I'm as happy as a clam (why are clams happy?). Gah there's a hall convocation dinner (go or be fined $30) this Thursday, better jio someone to sit with me. Either that or be thick-skinned and sit with people I don't particularly know.
University life is really different, huh? It has forced me out of my comfort zone (note, blogger's comfort zone refers to being around same circle of friends/family, stoning into oblivion) so many times I'm quite out-of-equilibrium now. I've made new friends, but no BFFs or FFL (friends for life!) whom I can HTHT with in comfort. I've joined a few random stuff, mostly to kill time, but then again most things are interesting enough for me to enjoy, so good for me. But I still miss you guys so much! We almost never get to hang out anymore now that school has started. At least for my family I get to spend at least one entire day (+night) with them per week which is so much better than the pathetic two hour breaks during which we sometimes see each other.
And then there are lessons. And homework. Those who say that University is much easier than mugging for the 'A's are lying. But then again I didn't really mug the entire two JC years away, so maybe it is tougher for the daily muggers, who would find Uni life a breeze. I don't know, don't ask me to analyse the psyche of a psychotic mugger.
But I think Uni life is enjoyable, to an extent, as compared to JC life, if you don't take into account the factor of close friends. Because in Uni it's like a fresh start, and nobody knows you, nobody pre-judges you ("Aiyah they so unenthu, don't need to ask them to join us", or "She sure pon one!")--which in fact leads to a self-fulfilling prophesy, no?--, and you can do all sorts of new things you normally wouldn't even think of doing. It's like nobody knows I'm a slacker, and a person who tries to pon stuff (remember the sentosa outing you all went for which I ponned because I wasn't feeling the ♥?), so they do not expect me to pon/slack, so I don't feel the urge to prove that I am a ponner/slacker. Although it's difficult to hide the fact that I'm a pig lah (there's this person who pointed me out as bum/someone with a sian face/sian outlook in life, and I'm thinking, "WTF SO OBVIOUS MEH?").
I cannot stand it! I'm so black now. I'm serious (I'm almost never serious), when I bathe I contrast the skin tone of my arm and my fat-ass tummy, it's like seeing a deformed zebra or something (forgive my lousy description). Not nice. And my palm is not smooth anymore because I no longer drink milk (link? Okay, see, I drink milk, then I wash the cup, and my hands are smooth because of the milk in the cup which I wash away!) in the morning. Hope I don't get osteoporosis.
I ♥ milk.
Sorry my recent posts are pretty much word-vomit posts, which have a cathartic effect when I feel bored.
Anyways, every time I wear a DHS shirt I'd feel a little out of place, because I don't have a JC shirt! Yes, I am neurotic like that. I shall go pack my stuff for tomorrow so I can just grab my bag and go off if I miss all four of my alarm timings. And I need to find AS3/0208 by 8a.m., which means I'd have to set off from TH at 7.45am (if I'm that lucky as to find the place in 15 minutes). So I'd have to wake up at 7 IN THE MORNING tomorrow to go for breakfast. Not fun at all.
Or maybe I'll skip breakfast. Bah I want to have breakfast! It's much better than dinner (tonight's dinner sucked to the core), and cheaper than lunch. Actually I've already paid for it.
Okay set, I shall go pack my stuff then go to sleep!
Rawr determination to have breakfast!
17:17
And because I joined IFG I have to go for some Frisbee meet-up today. I was told (by some hall senior or something) joining IFG gave you 4 points (4! Freakin' 4! Uh, actually it's either 4 or 2, but still, 2! So many! IBG only 0.5 or 2 max), but I'll bet I know nobody there (gg). And I feel like joining a CCA because staying in hall gives me plenty of free time (which should be used for mugging, I know, shhh), and joining a CCA would make it such that I don't have time to be emo/alone in the room eating bread. I was contemplating Dragonboating (because it's so bloody fun to be near large bodies of water!), but heard from someone that it involves loads and loads of running/jogging (read: torture to me), so decided against it. I wouldn't want to burn my Saturdays like that anyway. But I won't mind joining some lame-o choral group (choir/acapella) which allows me to just sing for a few hours (♥ singing) on some weekday evening, or community service club again, because it's fun to plan stuff like Mr and Miss Teen Earth 2007 (and doing saigang! We mustn't forget that).
Come to think of it the time I save on travelling from Pasir Ris to Buona Vista is approximately 12 hours per week (assuming a four day week--the norm--and three hour to-fro), and joining a CCA probably only takes up at most 8 hours a week (at most, seriously, the most hiong one is only 8 hours). So I'm still saving 4 extra hours of mugging time for myself (hahaha mugging time, the only time you see this phrase used together with the word Vivien is in the sentence "Vivien never allocates herself mugging time, because she almost never mugs, that pig.") to work on essays and assignments. Staying in hall is very convenient.
Too convenient, actually. I woke up at 9.38am this morning and realised that I had a lecture at 10am, I almost got a heart attack. I was like "OMG WTF ZZZ I'M GOING TO BE SCREWED! IT'S EL LECTURE WITH THE GL PROF WHO WILL DEDUCT MARKS FROM LATE-COMERS T_T CRY HOW WILL I EVEN PASS THE MODULE?!", but I still managed to chiong there (LT11, 5-10 minutes' walk) and got seated by 9.58am. I was contemplating skipping the lecture (anything is better than getting lower grades just because you were late), which was what Leanne did.
Anyway I want to jio Yunxuan out! The one who keeps telling people to visit her hall. Yunxuan, if you're reading this: want to go out on Friday to watch UP? Your lecture ends at 11.30am right? We can go Vivo watch UP at around 12 then go shopping. But I have to be back at hall by 7pm lah zzz. Or we can go Jurong Point. My point is, KOH, WANT TO GO OUT THIS FRIDAY?
I can go visit your hall on Thursdays, since my tutorial is at bloody 4pm. It's not like I have anything against that timing per se, but what the hell do you do for 4 hours (assuming I sleep till 12pm :D)?
On the subject of tutorials, I'm having my first tutorials tomorrow (three, actually. THREE tutorials. In a day. One of them being a two hour long one. But luckily I do not take Jap, which has three tutorials in a week, fun like nobody's business). Besides having to navigate my way around FASS (As3/0208, where the heck is that?), and other than the fact that I don't think I know anyone in my tutorials (because unlike everyone else, I did not plan my tutorials with anyone, and even if I did, I only got a single tutorial of my first choice, no luck), there's one pressing problem I'm facing right now; I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO WEAR FOR TUTORIALS!
Are tutorial rooms cold? Will the people I'll be seeing tomorrow be those fashionistas of FASS or will they be the slobs (like me)? What if I'm the only noob freshie in the tutorial class (my GEM tutorial)? Do I wear my pair of shorts yet again? Are jeans for noobs?
Important questions philosophers never asked.
Anyway I've been eating a hell lot lately. Especially today. Must be the loneliness getting to me (remember, food are not friends, it doesn't mean that the more you eat the less lonely you'll get!), since I had no lunch buddy today, cry cry sob. So I just bought tons of takeaway food. Yeah well, I'm running low on hall supplies anyway, no bread, three more Chipsmore cookies, a ton of raisins.
Need to get going anyway, don't want to be late for frisbee! =.= Sorry, I'm just putting on a brave front because I know I'd be the only noob freshie/noob freshie who is cui at sports there. But really, I don't want to be late; just because every single person in TH (at least the non-geeks) is late doesn't mean people in NUS are like that.
Halls really make people complacent (in terms of time-management). But I'm from Pasir Ris! I refuse to be late! Even when I'm late I make sure I'm one of the earlier late people.
Okay ciao my lovelies!
Monday, August 24 21:19
Then I had a shower so it wasn't that bad.
But I haven't had dinner (because hall dinner ends at 8.30, and psychology ended at 7.45, and I desperately had to shower). Meh. I am currently facing the crisis of having absolutely nothing to wear. And also the crisis of not having done some of my readings/auto exercises (guess for what module?). Oh, and Leanne and I just found out, to our horror, that the Biological Psychology aspect of PL1101E requires us to learn some fun Bio facts! Like action-potential, and neurons, and the Endocrine system. Yipee.
Which means I have to recall whatever scant Biology knowledge I have managed to retain over the two years of absence of bio. Phenotypes! Synapses! XY chromosomes!
For some reason IVLE is taking really long to load. And why is the CORS log in system working? You mean there's bidding going on now? I'm so sleepy now. Three two-hour long lectures in a day really can take it out of you, especially if you have a psych prof going on about some random neuron fact (Na moves in, making it more positive in the neuron, and then K goes out, returning it to its negative state (???), or was it the other way round?). But psychology is really interesting. :D
I have to go soon, there's this meeting for noob freshies who want to learn stuff about photography (see, I do geek stuff!). Not very fun, the one where we learn how to create a webpage is more interactive, learning about CSS next week, whatever that is. Hooray for geeks!
However I'm feeling a little emo, because everyone is leaving the country! T_T
Bye.
Sunday, August 23 20:27
Anyway I am happy today! Although our block got slaughtered in soccer (yes, despite me sucking the worst at soccer, I had to join last minute because we only had 3 players), and although I found out that I really couldn't play table tennis well (and thus would get trashed also), my IVLE forum reply wasn't that stupid after all!
Check this out:
"I agree with Vivien."by some dude,
"I agree with Vivien that the circumcision of a 8 day old boy is really more of a test of his parents' (obedience) rather than his own."by some other person, and,
"I also agree with Vivien about this being a test of faith for the parents."
by some girl with a really cool name (Bernadette! How cool is that name, huh?). They agree with my half-hearted, half-thought out statement! I hope they're not all noob freshies like me who would agree with anything. But anyway, yipee!
Maybe I really should get started on my essay, since I have this feeling that the deadline would suddenly jump out and shock me into having a cardiac arrest. And I am wrong, the Central Library does not, in fact, have free printing. So this week I do not have the NM lecture notes. And I haven't done the EL auto exercises--"Label the diagram of the vocal tract", "Fill in the consonant chart", "Kill yourself now!"-- because I haven't printed them out, not because I don't want to do my homework okay. And anyway answers are provided so it's not like I have to hand it in. Brr it's cold here. And I have lessons tomorrow (and every day, for the matter), starting at 12. I have no idea what to wear for tomorrow's lessons! Probably jeans, since I have been wearing the pair of white shorts for every single lecture there was for the past two weeks. And now with tutorials (three tutorials on Wednesday, bah!), I'll have even less clothes to wear. I brought my emergency clothes (meaning it I run out of clothes to wear I'd wear those), which include two pairs of fugly tights and a denim skirt. A bit pathetic, really.
Shall go do laundry now. Ciao for a while, peeps!
Friday, August 21 15:32
Idiotic thing I posted:
"Perhaps it is not so much the pain of the circumcision (since circumcision occurs when the child is eight days old, and he couldn't possibly remember much of it), but rather the symbolic act of circumcision that matters. Because an eight day old child is not able to make a rational decision regarding circumcision, it may be meant as a test of the parents’ faith to the covenant to allow their child to undergo the painful procedure of circumcision.
In this sense the pain circumcision brings refers more to the psychological pain (a sacrifice of sorts) of allowing their infant to undergo such a process, rather than the physical pain the infant has to experience (since babies cannot articulate their thoughts). In this case circumcision is a symbolic act of letting go (on the parents’ parts), and showing their faith and obedience to the covenant."
I know, it's so dumb. T_T
Anyway, remember Vaan from Mr and Miss Teen? Remember?? She's on Facebook! For some reason FB suggests me to add her as a friend. Click here if you want to view the page. I am very very very sure it's her! Actually it may not be her, but the name is so very familiar. Remember, I was her saigang kid.
Why am I blogging so much while everyone else seems so busy (thus not updating their blogs)? Maybe I really should read the second set of EL readings. But those are so dry and technical! I'd rather read Lolita (started reading it yesterday, not bad, a bit screwed up, but not bad), or one of the EN texts. Or do nothing at all. :D
Bye people, need to pee.
14:13
The I ♥ TH mug, which could stand for declarations of love towards my hall or Teoheng. And Milo in it! And that is my raisin bread in the background. I've developed a sense of revulsion towards bread. Oh, and can you see my uber cute panda water bottle at the back! What up with pandas nowadays anyway? Linette has a Panda bag. With the rain pouring outside and me reading (attempting, at least) my religion textbook, it's the first time I feel like a no-life closet mugger. Only I'm not mugging, I'm struggling.
It's alright, it's okay! I shall get a CAP of 4 this semester! (Hahaha I am joking, because with this GEM and my EL module, that's actually pretty much impossible). Hope the bell curve saves me, though. I am so glad there are guys who went through 2 years of NS and cannot remember how to study. I know, I'm so evil right?
Okay no more blogging! Time to read. Read. Read!
13:08
There was this dude named Abraham commenting on Canaan on the IVLE Forum for the GEM and the only reply I could think of was "Cool, your name is Abraham! Haha this is rather ironic, isn't it?". Of course I didn't post that, if not I bet I would fail the module instantly. And I just realised that this Abraham dude posted more than once. Immediate thought in mind, "Wow, Abraham, you certainly are vocal regarding the topic of Judaism! Maybe it has something to do with your name, haha. Interesting thought, no?"
Maybe I should drink some Milo before attempting an intelligent (Really I would settle for semi-intelligent) reply on the IVLE forum. I know nuts about Judaism, seriously. Need some food for my brain to work (since I haven't eaten since I woke up).
Yay Milo! ♥
But still no smart thoughts about Judaism, religion, circumcision, or non-Abraham related comments in my mind. Gah. And I was just staring blankly at the three essay questions the Prof set for us (one on pain, one on sexuality/sexual orientation, and the other on reward/punishment/sin. This is so The Handmaid's Tale can). However I am pleased to note that the only person I know in the GEM class (OG friend) has yet to post anything on the Forum (ctrl F), unless he's posting under some other name. I'm not the worst! And I bet those enthu kias on the forum are seniors. At least I hope so.
Meh I am so unhappening. It's Friday and I'm holed up in my room considering religion. I don't even have a lunch buddy today! T_T And I'd be missing Toh Qbing's birthday dinner because of IBG Tennis (read: kena trashed since I'm noob at tennis). If by some stroke of luck there are enough people on court, maybe I could zao halfway and go for the dinner! Argh I'm starving! Thank god for raisin bread and a good sense of humour.
Did you know that the location of the revelation of God's Torah was at Mount Sinai? And Moses wasn't actually the Prince of Egypt. Ever. He was raised in the palace as a free man, though. Dreamworks lied to me. But I love the song When You Believe, especially when a choir sings it.
Argh I shall stop blogging now, because I really need to get through the chapter on Judaism before attempting the IVLE forum (or, I could wiki/google, but I have nothing better to do anyway), and also start researching on the essay. This is like Pat's Critical Theory Essay all over again. Except this time I hope to actually get the paper back, with grades and stuff like that (although I'm not looking forward to it).
Bye people! The weather is so dreary today.
PS. I love having lunch with people I know (and can hold a conversation of more that 2 sentences with), so please, ask me out if you happen to be in NUS. I'm usually free for lunch. Or dinner, if you want to go out. I am serious. :D
PPS. I HATE hall food!
Thursday, August 20 23:42
I just received an email from my father. They care! Ah it's so nice to know that they're not actually suspicious of me or anything. Yay, love love. Although I doubt they'll ever trust me completely. Too many missed calls. I guess I'm really the missed-call-queen.
Hmm.
I do want to go home, don't get me wrong, but Pasir Ris is T_T and I went to join IBG so for the next few weeks my weekends are burnt. TT_TT (see how my tears are streaming?)
I shall sign out now because supper is in nine minutes. Bye people! LOVE!
23:24
So now I shall do a Weilin, that is to say, ignore messages. Because I seriously cannot answer to whimsical texts anymore! T_T I'll only reply LIFE OR DEATH texts. LIFE OR DEATH. However, feel free to call me anytime, I have free incoming calls. Or drop me an email (vivienheng061290@geeeemmmmmmmail.com (gmail, actually, I just don't want one of those crazy spambots to pick up the address and spam me. If it works that way, I don't know, mjst ask SM), which is the serious one that I check religiously. Not my hotmail, which is now flooded by, guess who, Facebook, so I don't bother sifting through the debris for mails anymore) if you want to meet up. And I cannot be the planner for anything (Choo send-off, Francesca send-off, Baojia send-off, birthdays, whatnot) anymore!
No more ability to send out messages. CRY.
Meh.
Byes. T_T
Wednesday, August 19 20:53
I think my 500 message limit is about to bao4 soon, and then my parents would kill me. Well, what's a girl got to do when she has to answer inane messages like "where are you?", or "what are you doing?" from an insanely distrustful parent?
I'm trying to get through the EL readings now, but I've never found anything less difficult to read. Give me GP notes anytime (because I don't read the GP notes ahaha). I think I shall go bathe before attempting the seriously not-fun-to-read-at-all EL readings. I regret not taking up an SS instead. Although I spent all my points on the GEM so I really shouldn't whinge. Ah well. Next semester I'll have SEA studies (I wonder if SEA Lit counts as one), SS, and no more EL! Oh the joy! However there'll be level 2000 EN, which I am seriously wondering if I should take, since the cheem woman left me cold (I mean, what up with the terminology and abstractness?). Maybe I should major in NM (the critical aspects of new media seems very Pat-esque, for some reason. She loves critical theories).
Why do the EL people (and by that I mean students) ask such cheem questions?
Q1: Why is the concept of sonority hierarchy important?
A1: Sonority is one of the criteria used in Distinctive Features (classes of features used when categorizing groups of sounds belonging to the same classifications). E.g.,:
Major Class Features
[+ Consonantal] consonants
[- Consonantal] vowels[+Sonorant] nasals, liquids, glides, vowels
[- Sonorant] stops, fricatives, affricates (obstruents)We need to understand what types of features are shared by which sounds in order to make generalizations. We’ll talk more about it as we move to phonology lectures.
Eh honestly I have no idea what the question means, and I have no idea what the answer is about. Guess I need to step up my game, huh. I mean, I remember briefly something about sonorant sounds (low, bass sounds, I guess), but what hierarchy? What classes? Who cares about phonetics? Ahh. I am so glad I didn't get the MOE scholarship now because they wanted me to take 4 modules of english, hehe, no thanks.
I want to go home and watch some mindless Spongebob Squarepants. I can only think of three reasons to go home, and that is, my sister, my cable TV, and my bolster/clutter of soft toys. I mean it's not like I don't love my parents (in a totally hidden way for the matter, and totally hidden it is, at least, right now), but you have no idea how stressful it is for me to undergo their pointless interrogation. And have them doubting my every answer. Moo.
I am going to miss Miss Toh Qbing's quiet dinner. Ugh IBG ugh why do I even bother joining when I know my parents won't allow me to stay for another year? Anyway I don't think the financial aspect of staying in the hall is that appealing. I mean, $200+ a month isn't very cheap. Even accounting in the meals and transport fees if I were to stay at home, I'd still be saving a whole lot more than to stay in the hall. Maybe if I worked during the holidays to pay for the fees I wouldn't feel like I were leeching off my parents, because I don't want to keep spending their money (partly because it's embarrassing since I'm already so old. OLD! OLD!!!), even now I use Nets to pay for textbooks and stuff. My savings are as good a gone. T_T
Although come to think of it it really is worth the money staying here. See,
Totally horrendous meals=$35 a month
Room=$75 a week
Freedom=Priceless
You see, simple mathematics. I can sleep till 12 (lectures permitting) in the afternoon, go out for late night suppers, not iron my clothes (I mean, those I wear to sleep, and the infinite number of school tees I have), dump every single thing everywhere (the state of my room is not for the weak-hearted), not bathe until late at night (not good, might get feng1 shi4/1), and most importantly, be able to go out and not worry about having to travel back to Pasir Ris before my unspoken curfew. Although now I have to worry about not catching the last bus back to BV, which is a whole new issue altogether.
During holidays if you got job lobang tell me okay! I need to earn money hahaha. D: Why am I so high about entering the inane workforce? I guess I'm turning into one of those unhappening hall people who stay in their rooms to mug and browse through readings. Actually it's only for bloody EL. And my tough Gem. We're learning about Judaism now, about Abraham and how he begot(?) two sons, Issac and Ishmael (isn't that some dude from Moby Dick?), one with his wife Sarah, and the other with his Handmaiden (wtf? Handmaiden again), dudette-with-forgettable/weird-name. And also about pain and circumcision. All of which are interesting enough but whenever I think about the term-paper I feel like dying. Bleh. Term paper.
Facebook gives people all sorts of opportunities to do online stalking. I found myself clicking on random friends' threads while having nothing to do. Maybe that's why I'm finding it difficult to understand EL phonetic technical terms--because I waste time on FB instead of readings.
Now what? I have nothing much to blog about. Perhaps I shall go bathe, then come back and complete my readings "Did Gershwin write the two pronunciations of tomato correctly? or does one of the dictionaries have the right way to symbolize the difference?", or do some research on religion and pain/sexuality/something. Time to try to remember what it was like in school! Work, brain, work! My friend was telling me how she couldn't remember all the Integration stuff she had to do for Engin. I've forgotten how to read serious stuff. But the NS people are probably worse off, so I should count my blessings.
Off to bathe now! As Tolkien says, nothing is as sweet as bathwater hot! Uh, at least he says that in song form in LOTR Book 1. Something like that. Never realised how gay that sounded haha.
Ciao, people.
15:13
And who has time to bother about trivial trust issues anyway? I have to get started on the pesky EL readings, get my Co-op membership, purchase The Bluest Eye, Waiting for (the?) Barbarians, Hiroshima Mon Amour, and the new Psych textbook (which by the way is not available second-hand, since the old book is out of print and we're starting with a new one). Oh, and the Intro to World Religions essay. Oh god. Essays/term papers are so not what I'm looking forward to now. I now understand why the phantoms of TH join Rag, because I suspect the phantoms are actually the Dean's Listers who do not participate in any activities whatsoever and stay in their room to mug the entire day away, then when it comes to getting points to stay in the hall (I'm talking about foreigners here), they join Rag. Hmm I see.
Phonetics isn't very fun actually. I don't really care about what bilabial sounds are, or the consonant chart (O_O), or Africcate sounds. Whatever those are. How? Everything is so technical. I shall sleep before attempting the readings. T_T
Bye bye.
00:42
If you converse with her on MSN, you should know that she never tells you she's signing off. Never. So sometimes you say good bye and you wait for her to reply you, you find out that she has already signed off before you did.
Now, knowing that people are annoyed by that particular habit of hers, she purposely uses that as her trademark sign off line:

Thanks, Choo Weilin.
Okay I should really go sleep now. No lectures tomorrow! And I found a lunch buddy (c)! But for tomorrow only. Shall hunt for more lunch buddies. Bye bye bye!
Tuesday, August 18 23:31
I'm staying opposite some phantom hostelite in some random unhappening corner of my block (of which I don't know many people because of the whole "it's difficult to break into a girl's clique" thing, and it really is. Now I understand how Oxy felt in her blog post about big groups of happy girls after reading some random cui blog post of mine), then I find out I'm actually a total Uni noob--did you know there's an IVLE Used Textbook Forum? I sure as hell didn't. Nor did I know that the readings were supposed to be read (I mean I thought it was for a later lecture. I am a noob T_T). And today the nice GEM lecturer gave us the questions for the paper due next month zomg I am so screwed! An essay on religion, not my favourite thing in the world. Not a very good day, in short.
For some reason I'm feeling quite shagged now. I just came back from the D&D com meeting where the main com seniors were obviously all clubbers/crazy people who swear a hell lot (I mean, in comparison to me), but at least it's that much more fun than stoning in rag waiting for 3 am to arrive.
The people at TH are teaching me how to be late, which isn't really good. You see, there are many meetings, and some of the meetings are around 8, 9 or 10 at night. Then for some reason a whole lot of people attending the meetings don't have any idea of punctuality, which I'm used too, actually, since I'd been hanging out with the notorious bunch of late-comers for a few years already (to name a few, Choo, Koh, and the ringleader of the obnoxious pack, PHUA XUMEI "I'm still at home, sorry"). However now I don't know too many people so the main aim is to blend in with the crowd. And to do so you have to arrive late along with everyone else. Nowadays I try to be late (as in I am punctual at being late. I usually set myself a few minutes of buffer time and then set off at a leisurely pace) for random stuff.
Which may become a bad habit. But luckily years of living in Pasir Ris has taught me the art of being on time/early, so I've not been late for any lectures yet. Even the one where I had to travel all the way from Arts to Sci in 15 minutes. Not bad for a noob freshie, huh?
And speaking of lectures, I managed not to doze off during lectures today! I was this close to dozing off in Intro to World Religions, but luckily I was sitting beside someone I know (JOY TO THE WORLD!), but not very familiar with, so it would be a bit pai seh to fall asleep. I did fall asleep during my first EN lecture (EN=E lit, for reasons unknown), because I was sitting beside Linette, and also because the last lecturer was rambling on and on about something too cheem for me to even consider trying to understand (I cannot remember a thing she said), even Linette agreed with me on that. Now I need to purchase The Bluest Eye, Waiting for the Barbarians, Hiroshima mon Amour (is that even a book?), hooray for The Tempest! The Bluest Eye seems interesting enough though.
Vicki crashed in my room last night, and we went off for lectures together this morning. According to her the point of having an OG was that you had someone to sit with during lectures (which I found out was quite true because I found an OG mate in the most expensive Gem a freshie could take. How small is the faculty man? It totally beat sitting alone feeling like an unloved noob). Apparently all the OGs sit together during lectures. Really? I thought OGs were for you to make random friends. I didn't know it guaranteed you coursemates for lonely courses haha.
Since I don't have much more to blog about, let me relate some conversations which I remember for some weird reason:
Friend: "Do you have like infinite Dunman High shirts?"
I was tempted to say yes.
Friend: "What time did you sleep last night?"
Me: "Like twelve plus like that"
Friend: "Wah so early arh?"
To which I was quite chua tio because 12 wasn't that early right?
Me: "Eh join Table Tennis leh!"
Friend: "Huh don't want lah I don't even know how to hold a bat."
To which I had no reply.
Friend on topic of laundry.
Me: "Huh cannot leave clothes overnight in washing machine meh?"
Friend: "The clothes will be smelly because of the bacteria (something something)"
Other friend: "You're not ready to be a wife yet."
Me: "..."
Why we were discussing laundry I have no idea.
I know, I know, I'm really random. By the way the friends in each conversation are different people. I am not so sad as to keep track of all the conversations I had with a single friend. And I do sound quite emo and pathetic when I blog about having dinner alone and stuff like that but really I quite enjoy hall life. It's like totally different from anything I've ever experienced and you get to make a heck lot of new friends (even though I'm not from any girl clique, people are friendly enough).
Although I'm seriously bad with names, so now there are like random people I see around (FASS, most of the time), and I have no idea where I've met them before, or what their names are. All I know is that I've seen them before somewhere, so we greet each other and sometimes make small talk, but it's all too trivial for us to actually ask for each others' names. So in the end we walk away not knowing a thing. I met this girl in FASS today, and she smiled and me, and said "Hi", and told me how her day of lectures was just beginning while I was making my way to the bus stop.
But I didn't know how I got to know her. I didn't know if she was from my FASS OG, or my hall. And I sure as hell didn't remember her name. And I think she didn't know mine either haha.
I need to do laundry again. Stupid jokes about fake boyfriends aside, I have no idea how come my laundry pile seems much larger than the amount of clothes I wear. Must be all the school tees I wear as PJs.
School tees are seriously comfortable. All the 13 dollars we spent over the past 4 years were seriously worth it. And somehow those shirts give you some sort of a street cred, and an identity. And I really miss life as a student in DHS, because nothing beats wearing a uniform to school and having the people you love surround you everyday. Putting me in a hall is like throwing a baby (fat, overgrown baby) into a pool of random pro baby-swimmers and living me to either sink or swim. Although the process is fun (the whole stupid breaking out of comfort zone thing, and the whole not-slack-for-twenty-hours-a-day-thing are awesome experiences), but everyday you have something unfamiliar going on (such as no dinner kakis on some days since we've got different lecture slots), so it gets very shaggifying sometimes.
Maybe that's why I've been seeking emotional support by getting people to go out with me a lot. Maybe that's what everyone is doing (like, Uni has started but outings are increasing...). Damn I so should be a Psych Major, I know how the brain works! Haha, kidding. Anyway I'm damn sleepy now, my fingers aren't really cooperating with me. And I bet there are 101 typographical errors despite Firefox's spell check.
Yeah well, shall sleep (but first, I must clear the thick junk off my bed (onto the floor, snort, haha, snort)) now. Good night my loves!
Sunday, August 16 23:17
I have a busy day tomorrow, so I really should sleep now. Shall blog some other time then! I'll wake up early tomorrow to pack hall breakfast as lunch so that I won't have to spend money! I am a money saver now. (As if) Okay good night people! Have fun in school tomorrow. :D
Friday, August 14 19:00
And I've decided not to go for dinner because I'm sure I won't have anyone to sit with. Shall eat bread and tuna. Moo this sucks. I should ask people out for dinner earlier because Jude was already on her way back to PGP when she saw my message.
Uh. I have nothing else to say. Bye again. I think you're sick of seeing these posts anyway haha.
17:28
I think I'm emo when I miss meals. Oh well. Let me tell you a secret. I haven't bathed yet! Shh. I've been on FB on and off for heaven knows how many hours. I officially announce that I am the most no-life person ever. T_T
I'm going home tomorrow! Which means dinner with guaranteed company. It also means that I'd have a printer to print out my lecture notes! I am not a noob anymore! Happy. But I have no clothes to wear home bloody hell. I think I have to resort to my shorts again. I need shorts! You cannot possible wear jeans to school because
a) I'm in FASS where jeans=uncool, apparently
b) NUS is freakin' hot
c) My jeans are not dry
I am feeling drowsy now. Must be the food.
I have nothing to do. I just messaged Judy to see if she wants to grab dinner. I think not, since she is now in full mugger mode already. Well, at least she's doing something constructive. I cannot even mug since less than half of my lessons have started. I could try reading up on grammar and phonetics, but why torture myself, right? My nose is still black from the sun. I don't like having a black nose.
Judy never reply me!
Okay I shall attempt to go bathe now. Probably I'd sit around doing nothing on FB for about half and hour first. Later gator.
14:43
However it was fun to meet up and update each other on stuff. And Yingyu has so many guy friends now whoots. [edit]I deleted some stuff. *raises eyebrows*[/edit] Ahem ahem, new scandals, anyone? Of course I'm only jesting. :D
Anyway we had the $9.90 set lunch at 4 at MFM (Manhattan Fish Market), and chit-chatted for a while. We should meet up more often. And I'm very sorry that we haven't celebrated Xumei's birthday! OMG how how how? I mean I'm free almost every day, but now that Uni has started, those in the hiong classes may not be free. Also we're all scattered now and some people are staying at bloody far NTU, which makes it difficult to meet up. It's like the challenge of party planning just got more difficult!
Then the whole clubbing thing started. First we drank ribena vodka (Ribena! I think I drank that because it tasted like ribena), then we went over to Phuture (because we were at Mambo. Apparently NUS people are notorious for their mambo-ing almost every week. What am I doing in a school like this I don't know), where we had tequila sunrise and played drinking games (not like I lost a lot or anything), and then I had my first shots, which tasted really bad (I have no idea how Baojia managed to drink her shot in sips. The taste was so bad that even downing it in one go I felt like dying. The lemon was good though). Then after that we got onto the dancefloor, even though I move like an awkward turkey. Because it wasn't even dancing, since there were about 98765347 people squeezing, gyrating and grinding against each other, which made it really hot/sticky/sweaty. My hypothesis was correct (I refer to my older post on clubbing)! I cannot really remember much more except that I had to pee twice and the toilet only had two cubicles, and that we stayed until 4am which was when the thing at Zouk ended.
The next day (that is, yesterday) I woke up with a sore throat and a mild headache at 12 in the afternoon, and felt shagged the entire day. Sorry for the uber small font, italics, and slashed words, I just don't think the whole idea of all night partying is suitable for my guai kia image, so I'm making it difficult for you to read it. :D So don't bother reading it.
Anyway I haven't stepped out of my room since 12 in the afternoon (it's 3.41pm now, by the way), and all I've done today is brush my teeth, wash my face, do laundry, register for my tutorials, check my emails, post something on the Introducing World Religions forum (about Olympics and religion, because a thread was talking about how football almost seems like a religion), and laze around on the Internet. I haven't bathed, I haven't had breakfast and lunch, and I'm feeling like a slob. I need to buy fruits because I usually go out (with you guys lah) instead of go for hall dinner, which means I won't be getting the miserable piece of fruit the hall provides every night.
It's raining now and in this weather I feel like sleeping again. Bleh. I really need to start reading the readings and checking out the pesky IVLE website religiously. But my LAN connection is always very bad, and I'm so totally irritated by it. Ah well.
I guess I shall go scavenge for some food now. Either that or I'll call Soke May or whoever to see if they're in school now, to go eat. I'm freaking hungry! T_T
I'm off then, bye people!
Tuesday, August 11 12:47
However I fell asleep for about 10 minutes because I woke up at 7 today to have the Hall breakfast. Not as grand as it sounds. And I didn't print out the lecture notes. Ahem: For Noobs like me, WE ARE SUPPOSED TO PRINT OUT OUR OWN LECTURE NOTES FROM THE IVLE WEBSITE! Yes, we are. After the lecture, Leanne came to visit the room ("Very small leh!""Really meh, you should see PGP lah"), and we chilled out a while until she left for YIH to hand in GIRO forms.
I am so shagged now, even though it was only one lecture which wasn't even that intense (wasn't intense at all, really). But I think my brain is overworked since it hasn't been working at all for the past 8 months or so. Universal Grammar, uh, what? But we get to learn phonetics, which is pretty cool. Okay I shall sleep for 15 minutes, power nap, before going to the bathroom to wash-up and proceed to LT8 at 1 plus.
Yay I <3 sleep.
08:43
Although right now I cannot find my Homa shirt (the one Soke wore to the airport as pyjamas) and my flag day shirt is lying in the drain under a pile of leaves. Damn it I hate washing.
And yesterday I just spent about sixty bucks on books alone. Luckily I had the speech day Kino vouchers (yay!) so in the end I paid only $32.35. Poor Choo spent fifty plus dollars on three books. Anyways, I bought Lolita, Les Miserables, Alice's Adventures in the Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass, P&P&Z. Now I have things to do when no one asks me out for lunch/supper, or if I don't feel like going down alone for breakfast/dinner and looking for people I recognise (which sounds seriously sad right? But trust me, you'll see people you know and then you just have to be a bit thick-skinned and plonk down to eat with them haha). This makes hall life sound lonely but actually it's quite fun after you get over the fact that there are many girls who already have their own cliques which are impossible to penetrate into unless their super nice. So people like me can only hang out with girls who do not belong in cliques, the OG (when there is OG stuff going on), or random people on the streets.
But weirdly enough I enjoy hall life. Maybe it's because I've been a stone for 7 months it's nice to make new friends and experience something totally different.
A slight digression though: Even though I am now tan and chao ta it doesn't mean I am sporty! I am still bloody unfit. :D Miss Ng once said that if she jogs/runs she'll feel her brains gushing out of her nostrils, and I expect that's how I feel about sports. But it's not like I mind joining anything, since my timetable is so free, but I expect once they see my psycho-motor skills (read: fail) they'll refuse to let me join anything haha.
Shit my lessons are going to start in an hour and I am dreading them! Dreading! I haven't even fully awoken and I haven't studied/used my brain in months. I think they'll burn out and I'd get a high fever tonight. I feel like wearing my CSC shirt and old PE pants to the lecture (those make up my pyjamas by the way), instead of something presentable. Bleh. Okay I shall sign out now, have to pack my stuff. My room is mess-ay!
Goodbye, loves.

It's weird how it feels as though I barely just met Chip. I knew of the existence of Chip during the Nanjing trip, since she practically puked all over the Haimen campus (you cannot ignore puke), and people were speculating whether she was anorexic or not (I wasn't okay), while Soke May, Biwen and the rest of us (Koh, Xumei, Yingyu, me etc) were bonding in our hostel rooms late into the night eating disgusting Jay Chou crackers. So I pretty much had no contact with Chip at all since she was in the sick bay and hospital on drip.
I think it was until Year 5 that I really got to know Chip through all our common breaks together (yay, Slacker's Club is ♥), and realised that no, she wasn't anorexic, and no, she didn't always puke all over campus. She was a) and unglam eater, b) a screamer, and c) very very whiny. She always wants people to piggyback her after Mass PE ("No, I'm not your boyfriend, go get a boyfriend"), and she has uber cool handwriting (The campaign to help correct the fugly handwriting failed). And she's always mistaken for a xiao mei mei even though we all know she is so mature and adult in her mannerisms (kidding). :D
And then there's the time when she was feeling super pissed off and stressed over exams and her art (Y2K), and we were helping her paint her walls. And there were the prata times on Frydays, and us complaining about how Zen Bin always got a mountian while we got valleys (not really, it's metaphorical), and laughing about how Eric the librarian molested guys. Those were the days, no?
But now Chip is not in Singapore anymore, which means we can no longer hear her hai tun yin in shan hu hai during TH outings (by the way, the "I ♥ TH" on the mug in my room doesn't stand for I ♥ Teoheng, it's I ♥ Temasek Hall hahaha), and we can no longer niao her about sheep (in person, that is), and we can no longer hear her make her boy-crazy comments (which are really hilarious I tell you)! We'll all miss you so much, Chip. *Cyber-hug!*
We love you, Chip! I was suggesting we print "We ♥ Chip" on a mug and giving it to you but then found out that it was too last minute for that, sadly. But it's the thought that counts right? Hope you are touched by the card(s).
And I suddenly remembered we did not pay for your lunch; I thought we were going to haha. It's my first time eating at Popeyes, actually, which is quite noob since my sister eats there all the time (she loves going to the airport to study with her friends, for some reason), besides Subway. Hmm.
What else? This is a tribute to Chip, by the way, so you all can tag on the board messages of love to Chip! Yay.
I'm quite sleepy now and I haven't bathed, which is quite gross. Plus I have lessons tomorrow T_T English Language and it's technicalities at 11 in the morning doesn't sound very appealing to me, and I have no idea whether we are supposed to print out lecture notes for it or not. I don't even know if there are any lecture notes. I am still pretty much in the Orientation/Camp/holiday mood. I don't even have clothes to wear to class, I think I'll stick to my shorts for tomorrow (this week I only have lessons tomorrow! Although there is Hall Bash and I have no idea what to wear, at all. AT ALL Please give me some advice).
Okay I am officially out of things to blog about. The fact that Chip is no longer available on out beck and call still hasn't set in much. But so many people are going away it wouldn't take long before things start getting sad and lonely. Especially for me, the only person from out group of people staying in hall. I have to travel to BV everytime I go out, sad ttm.
Shall attempt to pack my stuff now. I still have to stuff my pillow into my gay Snoopy pillowcase. Ciao babes!
Thursday, August 6 23:25
Wake up at 8, go for Oweek (last day before rag day) at 9, get Chip to hall at 12, chit-chat have lunch and do crappy stuff until 2 plus, where we'll them set off to have our haircuts, meeting with Xumei at 3 at Bedok, then meeting Koh at 4 at Bedok to set off to Kembangan to get food from BBQ Wholesale, and finally make it to the pit at 5 (hopefully that is). After the BBQ I'd zao back to NUS (effing far, I tell you), reach at about 1130, bathe+brush my teeth and sleep at around 12, wake up at 2.50am to prepare myself to go down to the MFR for rag prep stuff, and then proceed to Rag the entire day away.
That whole chunk was bloody exhausting to type out, I tell you. And totally grammatically wrong. Which is ironic since I'm going to do ELL in the first semester. Anyways, my point is, I am so freakin' busy tomorrow! While today was the epitome of slack ever since I'd moved into the Hall. I've suddenly realised that I love being kept busy so that I won't have to feel bored. And it gives me chances to hang out with random strangers and make friends. Which is imperative since I don't know anyone here (just yet).
CH:D:D says:

blog abt smt interesting
Well. I tried my best, you know. :D I've decided that for this year-at least-I'd be super hiong and join every single fun thing which comes along, just for the sake of it. I mean I'm not exactly the hardworking mugger type (so not right, Slacker Club people?), and usually I spend my free time stoning (really, stoning, like FBing or visiting the same blogs over and over again as though in hope of suddenly being directed to some mildly interesting site (PRON! Haha kidding)) and trying to avoid studying, so I might as well just join whatever shit there is to occupy my free time? Besides there's not cable in the hall so I cannot slack around watching Spongebob reruns. And the point of leaving JC for University is to experience change, and I'm not planning to change into one of those siao kia muggers with no life (my Wednesdays are free, fyi), so I might as well try to be one of those people who join stuff.
Because honestly being in DHS for six years pretty much moulded me into one of those unmotivated, uninterested people which is quite sad. Sometimes you have to get out of your comfort zone to experience new things. Maybe this explains why the people I've just met think it's weird to stay in the same school for six years.
I am so sleepy I cannot think straight anymore; the above paragraph must be totally incoherent to you guys. Okay I shall give in and go brush my teeth and then sleep. I <3 sleep.
By the way Xumei and Ada visited me in my room today! Then we (me+xm, Ada left) had prata at the prata shop and talked cock for quite a long while. Happy happy.
Okay I shall stop this random rambling and go sleep. See you happy people tomorrow!
18:32
If they don't want me home then don't ask me to go home lah.
Ugh. Freakin' periods.
I shall not be emo now. Dinner! (How not to be emo you tell me. Hall food. T_T)
Okay ciao, see you all tomorrow at the bbq. I shall show my face at the FASS Oweek tomorrow because it's the last day and the people are seriously nice. :D
Wednesday, August 5 22:04
1. Chui (adj) - damn lousy, inferior
"Wah lau your room damn chui, so small and hot."
2. Zam (adverb) - hit, attack, assault
"Why you zam my head so hard? Don't like me arh?"
3. Naruh Poondei (tamil vulgarity, incorrect spelling)
Yes I am that bored. And I just exhausted my general account points because of some psychotic seniors who were bidding at 1900+ points. So the winning bid was 400 points (probably some other hapless freshie like moi), and I have no more points left for the next Sem. T_T
And my LAN is behaving really guaiLAN-ly hahahaha snort snort. And there's no late night supper and disruptive games until 4 in the morning tonight so I'm feeling pretty bored. But not bored enough to go for more Oweek, I'm just too plain lazy. It's not like it's that bad but let's just say it's a pity the camp had to come after hall camp which is just too hiong for a nua camp to compete with.
Plus I'm not a Sentosa type of person. Oh fuck there are mosquitoes tonight! Arghhhhhhhh. Sorry about that, I really loathe mosquitoes.
Anyway in case you think I'm a total hall hobo, I went out today with Xumei, Xiuli, Biwen and Koh on a shopping/walk-walk trip at Bugis. It was really random, because Choo bailed out on the haircut today since 3pm was too "late" for her, so I was feeling damn sian because that would mean I'd have to find lunch on my own (which would be totally sad) since the OG people are doing God-knows-what. So in the end I asked Xumei to go for lunch with me and we decided to join Koh and gang. Not that we ended up buying much.
We however did piss the shop people at Espirit off, because we decided to try on clothes and very obviously had no intention of purchasing them. At first we each tried on the same sort of long purple dress with jingly bell-like stuff on them, then we tried on this poncho shirt thing and this green cardigan which Xumei and Xiuli were contemplating to buy (at freakin' $45!). Then we proceeded to take pictures in a neoprint machine (you know what I mean right? The ones where you put a camera where the lens is situated and then camwhored), want to see them on FB asap, Xumei, I need pictures! Then Biwen left and Xumei and I had dinner at Soup Spoon. Velvety Mushroom Stroganoff, however you spell it.
I am still feeling really shagged from last night though. I hurt my pinkie finger nail playing SlapJack (because some hiong person pushed against the nailbit and shifted it upwards, it was hell, I tell you), and I had to bloody pee a hell lot after all the loser's punishments. I think I shall go dump the stuff cluttering my bed onto the floor and proceed to sleep now. And I'd probably oversleep again and miss breakfast. Ah well.
Mozilla Firefox is really seh! It has spellcheck. Oooooooooh.
Anyway, I have to sleep now, my eyes are barely open. Nights people, no-lifer signing out at 10.53pm. :D
10:33
Right, now I sound like a mad woman with unkempt hair. Okay now I must go off to SSC to hand in the bloody form and get my concession. That means I must take one of those internal buses. T_T Once I got lost and arrived at Engineering, where I walked out and took another one of those pesky buses. Then another time I took one of the A buses in the wrong direction and ended up at PGP, which was the bloody terminal.
I really should start paying more attention to the transport I take.
Anyway I slept at 4 in the morning last night. If the late night OG suppers keep continuing I'd probably weigh a ton and have heavy eyebags after one semester. And we got warned by the security guard last night for being too noisy when other people were sleeping. I really should start reverting to my hermit-like self and seek solace in you guys online (being a hermit and all). Apparently there are such phantoms living in the hall whom nobody really know. Cool man.
Okay I have to go now. Ciao babies!
Tuesday, August 4 17:22
However this was more relax because for some reason my OG is like super slack. So some of us went for Yam Cha (whatever) and another lunch break after that. But I was hiong okay, after the years of training from choir (flag day every year), CSC and some other random school flag days. And the people are still as dao to NUS people as they were to DHS people.
One of my OG people kena H1N1.
Shit man I have nothing else to blog about besides bidding and camp stuff. Yeah, I decided to pon the FASS O'week because naturally I am bloody lazy. I have to submit some PEA (um, post-secondary something) form to the SSC tomorrow. But after that I'll officially have nothing to do. Maybe I'll go crash Soke May's Oweek or something, she was telling me that there were some hot guys in Computing (and she sounded damn hua1 chi1 in the text, plus she asked me whether there were hot guys in my hall, tsk tsk Soke May arh, become so horny).
I really have to sleep now, I woke up at 5.30 in the morning today, and the bloody chartered bus took 1 hour to move. By the way I still do not have the basic comforts in my hostel room (aka pillow and something to hug). Feel free to donate stuff to me okay? But don't come and donate me some old comfy boxers of yours hor. I need something to hug to sleep!
Hmm. Now what? I wanted to blog about how I stayed overnight at Judy's PGP room, but decided against saying condescending things about my friends or their rooms. :D
Can anyone send me songs? My new laptop is currently in a very sad state--no pics, no music, no nothing. The only thing about it is that it is pink. That's all.
I need to go bathe now I think. Pizza tonight for dinner, as a reward for today's flag day? Not like we were very hard working. Damn it I'm going to gain weight lah. I cannot wait for Friday because then I can see the people I love again! :D Although it's not a small intimate gathering T_T I'm aching all over. Chip is going to HK before I can show her my hostel room! I am so sad. But maybe I can go over to visit during break, or maybe she (you, if you're reading this now) can fly over and sleepover in my room! So cool, we can finally have that sleepover we've been wanting for so long because I have my own room now muahaha. And no curfew. And no "No Drinking" rule. It's like the wild child in me can finally show its true colours, kidding lah I am still the same guai kia okay.
Ah Chip, why do you have to go? Then soon it'll be Choo! The girls of Slacker's Club would be separated on different continents (well, kind of, I suck at Geog) for at least 4 years. T_T I am sad now.
But I still have to go bathe because if I don't I'd be sad and stinky. Buh bye loves.

I know I said that I'd be dead by now but hall camp was actually pretty awesome (Judy has been using this word a lot lately) considering how I know no one here in the chummy chummy way, because the people I knew in the hall were like totally not my slacko group of friends. But now I know new people! That is an achievement in its own right considering how I had spent the last six years of my life with the same old people and haven't made a real new friend in years.
Shit the mozzies are attacking me!
So anyways, the comments people usually give when I say I came from an DHP (aka six years of the same ole') include "Haha I personally will not choose an IP school", or "Six years not sian meh?". And then when I meet Chem Eng people I'll usually ask them whether they know Judy because she also went for chess (Chem Eng something something, not the intellectual game) camp, although two times I asked and two times the Chem Eng people said no. Looks like Judy has lost her AA attitude she had in secondary school (uh a bit no link, forgive me; it's really late/early to be thinking straight).
By the way, BIDDING! I got four out of five modules (which means I have a two day week not counting in the tutorials. What the hell right, I'm staying in hall I should spread the lessons out, but too bad the modules I want all decide to fall on Monday (and some other day). So now I have EN1101E (Intro to Elit), EL1101E (Elang), PL(?)1101E (Intro to psych) and NM1101E (Intro to new media). I didn't get the Philo module which I put in for fun (and bid for 2 points and got outbidded by 48 more points), which means I have one free space for a GEM or an SS. See, I sound so experienced right? But really, it's an act because I have no idea what to do now. And there was this senior who wanted to minor in Elit who said that Elit was freaking difficult (plus the people would go crazy reading all the books--4 in a week at least), and another senior from FASS O'week camp who didn't seem all that bookish and crazy (maybe there are exceptions to the "ELIT=CRAZYTIME" rule.
Oh my god I am so shagged after today's TH welcome ceremony (which was damn fun by the way, wet activities with blindfolds! Nice people holding candles and welcoming you!). I cannot think straight anymore, maybe I'll blog about camp(s) tomorrow. Or not.
But anyway, see you at inauguration! I'm going for the Hall one instead of the FASS one, since they're bringing a bus in to bring us to where ever the ceremony is held. Looks like I'll have to wear something uncomfortable again. Poo.
Oh wait a minute, this is my 300th post! Too bad it wasn't memorable or special. Double poo.
Anyways, I have to sleep now, I'm turning delirious.
